The Enterprise Data Platform team has a unique role in powering the enterprises’ data strategy, including data ingestion, governed data products, analytics, and AI.

Role overview:

As a Sr Product Manager focused on Data Platform Experiences, you will be accountable for evolving and maturing the experiences that each persona across the enterprise will use to process, govern, explore, analyze, create, and decide with data. You will work closely with our platform user experience team to define the many personas that touch data at Target, map their journeys and drive the strategy for how to reduce friction while increasing standardization and efficiency for each persona to manage their data role effectively.

As you drive outcomes within your problem space, you will:

  • Own and evolve the product strategy, and outcome-based roadmap for Data Platform experiences, which may include high code CLI and SDK experiences for developers, and low/no code experiences for analysts and business users
  • Lead continuous discovery through partnership with our UX research team, to deeply understand the friction and journey maps of the many personas that touch our platform and contribute to a data-driven organization
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with the other platform capability teams to turn their new features into engaging and aligned experiences for our users
  • Define and enhance persona frameworks that include persona journey maps and jobs-to-be-done to help prioritize and improve user outcomes and self-service enablement
  • Partner with UX design teams to define experience strategy, frameworks and design principles that lead to delightful, engaging, cohesive and easy to use experiences.
  • Support go-to-market activities, including documentation, enablement, internal standards adoption, and change management, to help our users understand what tools they have and how we continuously improve their jobs
  • Conduct industry and competitive benchmarking to ensure Data Platform experiences capabilities align with modern best practices

In this role, you are expected to operate with a strong ownership mindset, establishing the vision, strategy, roadmap, discovery, and product requirements for the Data Platform. You will use your strong influencing skills to drive alignment, encouraging open exchange of ideas to deliver shared product, engineering & UX outcomes, while maintaining a strong sense of urgency.

About you:

You are a strong product thinker who thrives in platform environments and enjoys working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, focused on jointly delivering on critical enterprise-level outcomes.

Required qualifications

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of Product management experience, or equivalent experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, site reliability engineering, or data platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority and align diverse stakeholders across engineering, architecture, and operations teams
  • Proven track record of building strong relationships with platform consumers, engineering teams, and senior leaders
  • Strong ability to work in an agile, collaborative and matrixed environment
  • Proven track record of product and/or people leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred qualifications

  • Working knowledge of data platforms, including tools for data engineering, data governance, and analytics tools.
  • Experience with experience design and working in partnership with User Experience teams to define research goals, turn research into strategy and roadmaps, and execute against experience designs
  • Understanding of cloud-native architectures, distributed data systems, analytics best practices, data engineering best practices, and data management/governance best practices
  • Experience with one or more major cloud platforms (Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, AWS)
  • Familiarity with cost management, capacity planning, and operational excellence practices in large-scale data environments
