As hurricane season begins, Target is doing what it has done for nearly two decades: preparing early, staying ready and showing up when it matters most. Disaster readiness is just one of the ways Target brings our enterprise strategy to life — strengthening teams and communities by showing up for guests, team members and neighbors in moments that matter.
Supporting our team is the foundation of everything we do. We believe that when team members are prepared in advance of severe weather and other disasters, they are better equipped to support our guests and communities and recover more quickly. That’s why Target provides preparedness tips to help team members and their families stay safe, conducts drills throughout the year and offers care sites and crisis support when disasters strike. And when team members are directly impacted, the Team Member Giving Fund can provide financial assistance to help them take care of basic needs and recover.
Preparing and supporting our team members is also a critical part of ensuring Target is ready to serve guests and communities before severe weather arrives. Through ongoing investments, strong partnerships and a nationwide network of stores and supply chain facilities, Target helps ensure communities have what they need ahead of severe weather. Essentials like water, batteries, food and flashlights are proactively positioned closer to where they’re needed, helping stores stay stocked and ready to serve. Teams also pre-position mobile charging stations and generators — resources that can provide both critical support and a sense of normalcy during uncertain times.
At the heart of this effort is Target’s Corporate Command Center, or C3. Founded in 2006, C3 has monitored global events 24/7 for 20 years, tracking severe weather and other incidents that could affect guests, team members and communities. By keeping teams informed and connected, C3 helps Target prepare ahead, respond quickly and adapt as conditions change.
When a disaster hits, the work shifts quickly from preparation to response and recovery. Target teams leverage our vast network across stores, our supply chain and partners to move the pre-positioned pallets of supplies at facilities located near the markets where they’re needed most. But just as important is what happens next. Long after headlines fade, Target continues supporting recovery efforts — whether that’s through volunteerism, providing much-needed supplies or helping communities rebuild.
That care continues to show up in meaningful ways. After Hurricane Helene, for example, team members stepped in to provide hot meals and distribute fuel to fellow team members in need, demonstrating how Team Target comes together to make a difference for one another.
Target also invests $2.5 million annually in disaster relief efforts, supporting organizations like the American Red Cross and Strongward (formally known as SBP) to help communities access food, financial assistance, medicine and other essentials. Since 2024, we have provided more than $5.7 million in one-time donations to support long-term recovery efforts for communities impacted by natural disasters. We donated $250,000 to Appalachia Service Project to rebuild damaged homes as part of our $3 million Hurricane Helene commitment. And in 2025, Target’s volunteer teams were on the ground with Convoy of Hope in Kerrville, Texas, to assist families who were still impacted after the severe floods there and partnered in California with Brotherhood Crusade after the devastating Pasadena wildfires.
As this year’s hurricane season gets underway, Target continues to invest in the partnerships, preparedness and capabilities that make this work possible. Because when communities are stronger, everyone is stronger — and that’s something worth preparing for every day.
