Team Target: Strengthening Communities All Year Long

For more than a century, we’ve believed that when communities thrive, Target thrives. That belief has shaped how we operate for generations and remains central to our enterprise strategy today, including our priority to strengthen our team and communities. By growing alongside the communities we serve, we can make an even greater impact together.

We bring that commitment to life year-round through local partnerships, giving and volunteerism across the 2,000 communities where we live and work. We work alongside nonprofits, schools and community organizations to respond to local needs and help create meaningful change. From transforming community spaces and supporting Special Olympics athletes and families to preparing thousands of students for the school year ahead, Team Target volunteers have been showing up throughout the year — including during Community Month in June, one of our most focused months for giving back.

Building stronger communities, together, through Bullseye Builds

Across the country, Team Target volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help create spaces where communities can gather, connect and thrive. Through Bullseye Builds, Target’s signature community activation, team members worked alongside local partners on projects in Washington, D.C., Seattle, and Logan Township, New Jersey. Together, they helped transform community spaces through painting, landscaping, murals, and facility improvements tailored to local needs. Eight more builds are scheduled from August through November, starting in our own backyard in the Twin Cities.

Bullseye Builds reflects Target’s broader commitment to community-led solutions and neighborhood vitalization. In 2026, Target announced a $1 million investment to support 13 community projects nationwide. Since launching, more than 2,000 Team Target volunteers have participated in Bullseye Builds efforts, benefiting more than 250,000 community members.

Showing up for athletes, families and fans

During Community Month in June, Target supported the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota, where team members volunteered and engaged with athletes, families and fans throughout the event. The partnership highlighted our commitment to fostering inclusive communities and celebrating athletes of all abilities.

More than sponsorship, the Games reflected a belief that communities are strongest when everyone belongs and has the opportunity to participate, contribute and be celebrated. Here's a closer look at Target’s involvement in the Games.

Celebrating 30 years of care and connection with St. Jude families

Showing up for communities also means being there for the long term. For 30 years, Target has partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to help bring comfort, hope and joy to children and families facing some of life’s toughest challenges.

That commitment came to life again this summer during the twice-annual Bullseye Bash, a celebration designed to create moments of creativity, fun and connection for St. Jude patients and their families.

From face painting, a lemonade stand and arts and crafts to music from a live DJ and a special appearance from Bullseye, Target team members joined our St. Jude partners to create a memorable experience centered on patients and their families.

As Target marks three decades of partnership with St. Jude, Bullseye Bash is one example of how a longstanding relationship continues to create meaningful moments for families today — and reflects our commitment to supporting the St. Jude community for years to come.

Volunteering that makes a difference

When communities need support, Team Target shows up.

That spirit was on display during the Twin Cities United Way Day of Action, where Target volunteers joined community partners to help students prep for the upcoming school year. Together, volunteers packed school supplies into 55,000 backpacks for local students, creating tangible support for families across the region.

The event reflected Target’s longstanding partnership with United Way and our continued commitment to supporting our hometown community. It also showcased the impact of businesses, nonprofits and volunteers coming together around a shared purpose.

Fighting hunger through partnership and volunteerism

In Los Angeles, Team Target joined forces with chef and Good & Gather Collabs partner Roy Choi and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank to support local families facing food insecurity. Volunteers packed essential food kits, while Target presented a $100,000 donation to help expand the Food Bank's efforts across Los Angeles County.

The event highlighted the power of partnerships to create meaningful impact. Alongside Roy Choi and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Team Target volunteers came together to support neighbors in need and strengthen communities through service, giving and a shared commitment to ensuring more families have access to food.

Helping students start the year with confidence

As summer turns toward back-to-school season, Team Target has been focused on helping students and families prepare for the year ahead.

Throughout July and August, Target partnered with local nonprofit organizations to host back-to-school shopping events in more than 20 communities nationwide. These events connected students with the essentials they need to succeed while helping ease financial burdens for families.

Students received a $100 Target gift card, a backpack, school supplies, a water bottle and snacks. Alongside community partners, Team Target volunteers helped students shop for the items they needed, creating memorable experiences that extended beyond a simple shopping trip.

Several events featured special local partnerships, including experiences with the Dallas Mavericks, helping make the start of the school year even more meaningful for participating students and families.

Whether vitalizing neighborhood spaces, celebrating athletes, volunteering alongside nonprofit partners or helping students prepare for a new school year, Team Target invests in communities across the country all year long. Each recent effort reflected the same goal: listening and working alongside communities and putting our unique strengths to work.

Together with our nonprofit partners and thousands of Team Target volunteers, we’re committed to making Target a place where everyone feels they belong, and we extend that commitment beyond our stores and workplaces into the communities we serve.
