The pay range is $85,500.00 - $153,900.00

Attention:

This role is defined as hybrid in Minneapolis, MN. The candidate selected for this role must reside in Minneapolis or the surrounding area. Relocation packages are available if you currently do not live in the required area for this role. Residing in Minneapolis or the surrounding area is a requirement for the role and is not negotiable.

About You

As a Senior Engineer, you will be instrumental in driving the architecture, configuration, and ongoing support of our internal FreeRADIUS (https://www.freeradius.org/) infrastructure in a mission-critical, enterprise environment. You will also flex your adaptability by supporting our team working on Spring Boot Java applications, ensuring they have the authentication and authorization capabilities needed to drive their projects forward.

As a Senior Engineer you will:

  • Develop, configure, and optimize FreeRADIUS policies, integrations (LDAP, Active Directory, MySQL), and EAP methods (PEAP, EAP-TLS).
  • Deliver Secure & Compliant Systems: Strengthen AAA frameworks, manage certificate lifecycles, and align with compliance standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, HIPAA).
  • Own the technical roadmap for FreeRADIUS, focusing on scalability, security, and reliability.
  • Stand up and maintain FreeRADIUS instances, ensuring seamless integration with new and existing services.
  • Set up robust monitoring and logging solutions to proactively detect and resolve issues.
  • Provide on-call support and rapidly respond to critical system events or outages.
  • Be Flexible to support other in-house developed Spring boot applications.

Qualifications:

  • FreeRADIUS: Proven experience (5+ years) configuring, deploying, and tuning RADIUS servers in production.
  • Linux/Unix: Solid background in systems administration, networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS), and security best practices.
  • Scripting & Automation: Proficient with Bash, Python, or Perl; able to automate repetitive tasks and manage CI/CD pipelines.
  • Spring Boot Exposure: Comfortable developing/supporting Spring Boot services.
  • Strong analytical approach to diagnosing and resolving issues quickly.
  • Adaptable in dynamic environments and proactive in learning new tools or frameworks.
  • Experience in high-volume or multi-tenant FreeRADIUS
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure automation (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
