Team overview:

The Enterprise Data Platform team has a unique role in providing the foundational infrastructure, reliability engineering capabilities, and developer tooling that power data products, analytics, AI, and operational systems across Target.

Role overview:

As a Sr Product Manager focused on Data Platform SRE & Platform Services, you will be accountable for evolving and maturing core platform capabilities that enable reliability, scalability, observability, and operational excellence across our enterprise data ecosystem. You will also identify and drive centralization of cross-platform primitive services that reduce toil for the platform engineering and data engineering teams. These capabilities form the foundation that ensures data products are resilient, performant, cost-efficient, and trusted at enterprise scale.

As you drive outcomes within your problem space, you will:

  • Own and evolve the product strategy, and outcome-based roadmap for Data Platform SRE tooling and backend platform services, including observability, reliability automation, cost optimization, capacity management, and operational workflows
  • Lead continuous discovery through engagement with SREs, platform engineers, data engineers, and platform consumers to identify reliability gaps, toil, and systemic risks
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to align on priorities, tradeoffs, reliability targets (SLOs/SLAs), and delivery plans
  • Develop lightweight prototypes or proofs-of-concept to validate ideas and de-risk investments in automation, telemetry, or developer tooling
  • Translate validated concepts into clear product requirements and partner with engineering through delivery of scalable, reusable platform capabilities
  • Lead go-to-market activities, including documentation, enablement, internal standards adoption, and change management, to drive measurable improvements in reliability and operational maturity
  • Conduct industry and competitive benchmarking to ensure Data Platform SRE capabilities align with modern best practices in site reliability engineering, platform engineering, and cloud-native operations

In this role, you are expected to operate with a strong ownership mindset, establishing the vision, strategy, roadmap, discovery, and product requirements for the Data Platform. You will use your strong influencing skills to drive alignment, encouraging open exchange of ideas to deliver shared product, engineering & UX outcomes, while maintaining a strong sense of urgency.

Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.
