The pay range is $135,000.00 - $243,000.00

We are seeking a strategic leader to serve as Director, Community & Stakeholder Engagement focused on Community Engagement Enablement. This role will build and lead portfolio management and the next phase of our Community Engagement strategic initiatives ensuring alignment, scalability, and impact across the enterprise.

You will operate at the center of strategy and execution, partnering closely with leaders across Community & Stakeholder Engagement, Corporate Affairs, and key partners to enable a cohesive, enterprise-wide approach. This role will require extensive collaboration with enterprise teams to deliver inclusive and impactful initiatives for the organization.

This role leads a multi-capability team (PMO, Measurement, HQ Business Partnership, and Future Initiatives) to design and operationalize how we engage communities and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development & Integration: Translate Target's Community vision and focus areas into actionable plans and integrating community, belonging, and reputation priorities into a cohesive, scalable approach
  • Enablement & Operational Excellence: Operationalize enterprise frameworks and PMO capabilities that enable consistent, scalable execution of community engagement strategies regionally and hyper locally
  • Insights & Continuous Improvement: Define success measures for Community Engagement priorities and partner with Strategy & Operations to establish dashboards, reporting routines, and performance insights that inform decision-making, demonstrate impact, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Enterprise Partnership & Influence: Serve as a trusted strategic partner to Community Engagement leadership and key enterprise stakeholders—including Corporate Affairs, Government Affairs, Merchandising, Marketing, HR, and other business functions to align priorities, remove barriers, and accelerate execution across the enterprise
  • Business Partnership & Change Enablement: Build strong relationships across the organization to integrate Community Engagement strategies into business priorities, lead organizational readiness for new initiatives, and ensure clear, consistent communication and stakeholder alignment
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning

About You:

  • Four-year degree in Communications, Public Relations, Non-Profit Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 12-15+ years of experience in strategy, operations, community engagement, stakeholder management, corporate social responsibility, public affairs, or related fields
  • Proven track record of strategy development and ability to translate vision & strategy into action.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives at scale within large, matrixed organizations
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and/or building new capabilities (e.g., PMO, strategy, enablement functions)
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage senior leaders and diverse stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and insights to drive decision-making and measure impact
  • Familiarity with nonprofit, government, and community ecosystems, with experience managing external partnerships
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, influence without authority, and build trusted relationships across all levels

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
