Right on pace with Target’s distinctive retail brand, Target Store Operations is continuing to transform the way it operates. Here, your work directly supports the store mission to be the guest favorite through successfully developing and communicating the processes for operations, style and experience, new structures, new operating models and new technology, and utilizing workforce management activities for our 1,800 locations nationwide. Store Operations manages and enhances the informational resources for researching and resolving operational issues, while guiding and communicating with the field team and leaders who use them. Are you a customer service enthusiast who can actively listen to many points of view and then visualize how they’ll perform when operationalized in a store? Are you happy to partner with leaders as well as field team members who are often the experts on how well a process is working? Can you creatively envision more efficient processes and how they’ll deliver a better experience for guests and team members? Do you possess the innovative mindset to question the status quo, and the confidence to work under varying degrees of ambiguity and well-informed experimentation? Then you’ll have success on one of our dynamic teams.

About New Stores:

We are on track to open 300 new stores over the next decade, making new stores a key strategic growth priority. Our goal is that each new store represents the best of Target – our team, services, assortment, and guest experience – and we are committed to opening these stores in a way that sets them up to reach their full potential.

As a Lead Field Implementation Business Partner (FIBP) within Store Operations, you will play a pivotal role in bringing new stores to life while contributing to a broader team focused on all building change – including new stores, remodels, and special projects. In this role, you will influence outcomes across markets, guide store teams through the opening journey, and help shape the future of new store processes through continuous improvement. Responsibilities include:

  • Build strong, credible, cross-functional relationships with store and field leaders across markets, Store Operations, and HQ enterprise partners – serving as a critical liaison between stores and the enterprise.
  • Lead communication efforts with store and field partners throughout the store opening process to ensure clarity, alignment, and readiness.
  • Partner with Human Resources to support staffing strategies and progress, connecting leaders to the right tools, resources, and guidance needed for successful openings.
  • Deliver training and coaching to store and field teams on key opening milestones, ensuring they are equipped and confident to execute a successful opening.
  • Collaborate closely with the New Store Opening Executive (NSOE), Store Director, and district/group leaders to monitor progress, identify risks, and proactively remove roadblocks.
  • Hold cross-functional partners accountable to milestone delivery and opening commitments, ensuring smooth and efficient execution.
  • Provide expert problem-solving support by addressing immediate challenges while identifying root causes and translating learnings into future process enhancements.
  • Analyze data, insights, and field feedback to clarify priorities and inform decision-making as an advocate for stores.
  • Share insights with upstream partners and pursue continuous improvement, innovation, and business development to drive efficiency, capacity, and stronger outcomes for stores and Target.

Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. Job duties are subject to change and evolve with business needs.

About You:

  • Four-year degree or equivalent work experience
  • 6+ years of leadership experience, preferably in retail stores, operations, or properties
  • Ability to travel up to ~75%
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and lead people
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate across multiple levels of leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent conflict resolution, people skills, and the ability to influence without authority, and challenge the status quo.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve problems, identify root cause, and apply learnings to implement improved processes and practices.
  • Strong organizational skills to simultaneously manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Experience operating in an ambiguous and rapidly changing work environment.
  • Ability to leverage data, insights, and trends to build strategies and drive business results.
  • Technical acumen and proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint).
  • Target stores or new store experience desired
