More than just a benefit, Target’s 10% off team member discount is a demonstration of our commitment to supporting our team members’ financial well-being in ways that matter every day.
And we’re also commemorating 10 years of wellness savings. Introduced in 2015, our Team Member wellness discount encourages healthier choices by offering Target team members an additional 20% off items that support well-being. From fresh produce to fitness gear, it’s designed to help team members feel their best — and save while doing it.
For generations, these benefits have helped team members make the most of their money — whether stocking up on groceries, finding the perfect holiday gift, or treating themselves to something special. Together, they reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting Team Target every day.
“Our team member discount is just one way we show everyday support to our teams,” says Melissa Kremer, chief human resources officer. “For 50 years, it has helped them bring home the best of Target — whether brands they love, meals they’re proud to make or small joys that brighten their day. And for the past decade, our wellness savings have expanded that support even further. Together, these benefits reflect our commitment to supporting the well-being of our team and their families.”
A benefit that’s built to last
Before 1975, team members looked forward to two festive shopping nights each year — one before Thanksgiving and one before Christmas — complete with refreshments, family time and a 10% discount.
Then, on April 1, 1975, Target introduced something new: A 10% discount available every day, making it easier for team members to save whenever they shop. It was a valuable gesture that became one of our most beloved benefits, and it’s still going strong 50 years later.
Today, it gives team members, their spouse or domestic partner, and eligible dependents 10% off every purchase at Target stores and Target.com. And the extra 20% off fresh produce, activewear and other wellness products has saved team members more than $98 million over the past decade. Team members who retire from Target and meet the service requirements also qualify for the retiree discount for themselves and their eligible dependents.

Impact by the numbers
Today, our discount program remains one of the most generous in retail and the savings add up quickly. In the past three years alone, team members have saved over $419 million. Nearly 400,000 team members used the discount in the past year, and they’re saving an additional 5% through Target Circle. And in 2025, we’re already at $102 million in savings, with projections to grow by the end of the year. From everyday coffee runs to holiday shopping, these savings make a real difference.
What’s in our teams’ carts?
Our team members’ favorite buys tell a story of everyday essentials and little indulgences. Popular brands like Good & Gather, All in Motion, up&up, Threshold, and Cat & Jack top the list — illustrating our teams’ love of Target’s owned brands. Wellness discounts are trending up, growing 8% year over year, with bananas, strawberries, and avocados leading team members’ picks — bananas alone have driven $343,000 in savings this year. And when it comes to treats, Starbucks is the undisputed favorite for discount use.
“In addition to having a fun place to work, I get to save money! I can stack my 10% Team Member discount with the 5% discount from my Target Circle Card,” shares Scott S., service and engagement team leader. “Plus, my wife can use my discount, how cool is that?”
Expanding the perks
Target’s culture of “care, grow, win together” for our team members comes to life through the meaningful ways we support their well-being, growing families, educational pursuits and financial confidence while providing resources that help them thrive. This summer, we expanded those benefits by partnering with PerkSpot, giving team members free access to more than 10,000 exclusive discounts on dining, entertainment, travel, electronics, cell phone plans and more — helping them save big well beyond their Target runs.
