Supporting financial well-being

From competitive wages to smart ways to save money and invest their income, we’re committed to providing our team members with industry-leading resources so they can build the financial future they want. Below are a few highlights of what we offer.

Market-leading pay

At Target, our frontline team members are among the best-compensated workers in the retail industry. More than five years ago, we were among the first in the retail industry to invest in a $15/hour starting wage. That was just the beginning though; in 2022 we enhanced our starting pay again, offering a range of $15 to $24 per hour, depending on role and location. And we’re seeing those investments pay off — today, the average wage for our frontline team members is above $18.50.

Access to financial resources

At Target, we offer holistic benefits that provide care and support for our team members every day. One of our foundational benefits, our team member discount, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025. With it, team members, their spouse or domestic partner and eligible dependents receive a 10% discount at all Target stores and Target.com. And for wellness products like fresh produce, activewear and more, team members have saved an additional 20% off since 2015 — that’s added up to over $98 million in savings on wellness products alone.

Team members who retire from Target and meet the service requirements also qualify for the retiree discount for themselves and their eligible dependents.

Nearly 395,000 team members have used their discount in the past year, with 125,000 transactions happening every day.

Target empowers team members to take charge of their finances – deciding when they’re paid, how their money is managed and where it’s invested. Through every step, they can trust that Target has their back.

  • Earned Wage Access: Team members control when they receive their earned but unpaid wages through our DailyPay app. At no cost to enroll, team members can transfer and receive pay for hours they worked today, the next business day — for free.
  • TGT 401(k) plan: We match team member contributions dollar-for-dollar up to 5% of eligible pay, with immediate vesting, to help team members save for their future.
  • Target Credit Union: One of the few credit unions offered by a retailer, team members and their families who join gain access to a full suite of tools, including checking and savings accounts, credit cards and more. As of 2025, more than 50,000 active and former team members are saving close to $341 annually by using Target Credit Union instead of a national bank.

Health and wellness

Our team members are what make Target, Target, and we’re committed to supporting their well-being with expansive healthcare access.

  • Leading Healthcare Accessibility: Our hourly team members, the largest team member group at Target, become eligible for health benefits at just 25 hours per week — an industry-leading standard.
  • Flexible Virtual Healthcare: For more than five years, all Target team members have had access to our flexible virtual healthcare through CirrusMD, which can connect them instantly with a doctor — anytime, anywhere — 24/7, even on holidays. No waiting rooms. No copays. Just quick, confidential, chat-based care when it’s needed most.
  • Health Resources: Team members have access to free fitness, nutrition, mindfulness and financial resources on demand through Grokker, designed to support their overall well-being. Available since November 2020, we currently have over 21k team members actively registered and taking advantage of this benefit.
  • Gym Discounts: This summer, Target invested in a brand-new discount program through One Pass Select, offering all U.S. team members discounted pricing on thousands of in-person gym options, including nationwide gyms and local fitness studios like Planet Fitness, Anytime Fitness and Orange Theory — with one monthly membership fee.

Going beyond the physical, last year we enhanced our long-standing mental health benefits by expanding access to free, confidential support for U.S. and Global Owned Brands team members and their households. Through Spring Health, Target offers personalized care services, including therapy, coaching — for skill building, health and well-being, relationships, parenting support and more — well-being exercises, and work-life assistance with legal financial and caregiving resources.

I am very thankful that the doctors that I have had to reach out to on this platform have always gone out of their way to be very thorough and asking their direct questions to get a good diagnosis.

Nearly 40,000 team members and their households completed over 100,000 care appointments since the introduction of Spring Health in 2024 — surpassing average industry adoption rates.

Supporting our team and their families

At Target, we recognize the importance of providing benefits to our team members and their families, helping them reach their goals together.

  • Backup Care Solutions: Team members have access to free backup care for children, adult or elder relatives they take care of, including center-based and in-home options.
  • Paid Family Leave: When welcoming a new child, whether by birth, adoption, surrogacy or foster placement, eligible team members receive paid time off to welcome their newest family member, on top of the medical leave they receive following birth.
  • Maternity Support & Doula Services: Medical-enrolled team members have access to a maternity support program, offering personalized guidance from maternity coaches and nurses throughout pregnancy. Additionally, team members can receive reimbursement for doula services, which provide support, guidance and advocacy during pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
  • Adoption and Surrogacy: For more than a decade, we’ve been supporting growing families, offering our team members up to $10,000 in reimbursement for adoption or surrogacy fees.
  • Fertility Benefits: Our comprehensive fertility program removes barriers to care by bundling all the necessary services, tests and treatments, so team members and their doctors can create the customized treatment plan that is best for them. Team members can also receive personalized support and guidance from a dedicated patient care advocate.

Learning and growth

We are proud to offer a tuition-free education assistance benefit, Dream to Be, giving team members access to undergraduate and associate degrees, certificates and bootcamp programs — both online and in-person —through our partner Guild. Available to Target’s U.S. team members on day one, Dream to Be is an industry-leading program that removes barriers to learning, helping team members grow their careers through tuition-free assistance from more than 40 schools and around 250 business-aligned programs with no out-of-pocket costs. Through our investment of over $300 million over four years, more than 10,000 team members have graduated from Dream to Be programs, transforming their lives while driving Target’s growth and innovation.
