Senior Design Engineer – Design Engineering (Sunnyvale, CA): Work collaboratively with Design Engineers on new and improved designs for Target supply chain operations; support the Design Engineering team with data related activities, such as data mining, organizing, cleansing and reporting; develop 3D visualization of layout, equipment, processes and material flow within a facility for virtual proof-of-concepts; identify internal databases, extract relevant data from them, and present data in the appropriate format for usage by team members; develop and maintain department’s data repository site for effective storage and retrieval of data and 2D/3D files; validate performance of material flow systems using advanced computer-aided technologies such as discrete-event simulation and material flow analysis; document, interpret, and communicate results to cross-functional teams; employ material flow design criteria and facility layout design principles; model flow of materials to test throughput and identify any process flow bottlenecks; develop technical Request for Proposal (RFP), tabulate and qualify proposals, and make technical recommendations on award; maintain and promote all industry and regulatory safety requirements & procedures; support Design Engineers within the department with model development, analysis and experimentation; demonstrate a basic understanding of complex mechanical systems and designs and identify necessary inputs and outputs for modeling systems; collaborate effectively across all internal and external stakeholders including vendors, internal engineering team, operations & facility teams; design logistics site traffic flows, parking requirements, dock door needs, truck yard flow/congestion, and ensure safety in design; and work with peer teams and consulting Civil Engineers to provide optimal site layouts. Offering of a salary of at least $145,205.00 per year depending on education and experience. 40 hours per week. Telecommute work arrangement permitted up to 3 days per week. Position requires 2 days in office. Position requires 15% domestic travel. No international travel required.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, related field, or a foreign equivalent; Must have 3 years of experience in job offered or related occupation; Must have 3 years of experience in the below skillsets: Experience with Material handling, automation, manufacturing, supply chain and/or distribution and logistics industries; experience with Advanced Excel, data visualization and statistical modeling; experience with layout requirements for material handling technologies such as conveyor systems; experience with material flow strategies, material handling and dynamic manufacturing/supply chain systems; experience with CAD software; experience with manipulating and creating facility layouts and warehouse designs with 2D/3D CAD software; experience with layout requirements for material handling technologies such as conveyor systems, automated storage and retrieval systems (crane and shuttle based systems) automated guided vehicles, and robotics such as industrial robotic arms and mobile robots; and developing and implementing supply chain facility layouts to optimize process requirements and material flow; and 1 year of experience in the following: Experience with externally available 3D tools (Industry-leading digital visualization and reality capture technologies including 3D modeling, visualization, animation, and/or virtual/augmented reality tools including Sketchup, Unreal, Altoura and Prevu3D).
