About us:

Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. We bring that vision to life through our values and culture. Learn more about Target here.

Target is evolving at an incredible pace. We are constantly reimagining how we get the right product to the right guest even better, faster and more cost effectively than before. We are becoming more intelligent, automated and algorithmic in our decision-making, so that no matter how guests shop—in stores or on Target.com—we deliver the convenience and immediate gratification they demand and deserve. We are on a mission to win decisively over any competitor, with a seamless and superior guest service experience unlike any they can offer. Our teams work with the agility our mission requires, and we constantly come together to implement new processes in record time. So we’re looking for exceptional people who are proactive, creative, independent, innovative, risk-savvy and comfortable working in varying degrees of ambiguity. Are you a critical thinker who seeks the root cause and can analyze both qualitatively and quantitatively? Are you a creative problem-solver who simplifies problems, quickly identifies solutions, commits to a plan and then positively influences others to execute it? If so, you will have success on one of our dynamic teams.

A role in Planning & Inventory Management (PIM) means applying your specialized and well-informed point of view to what we buy, how much, and where it needs to go from there. You’ll use the right combination of data and expertise to achieve the best possible product availability through proper inventory positioning.

As Sr. Manager Planning & Inventory Ops, you will lead the PIM Ops team that partners closely with pyramid teams to enable strong planning, forecasting, inventory alignment, and operational execution. This role is accountable for ensuring the team delivers both day-to-day business support for individual pyramids and scaled support for enterprise-level Planning & Inventory initiatives that improve consistency, capability, and execution across the organization.

You will serve as a critical connector between centralized PIM Ops capabilities and the needs of the individual pyramid businesses. The role ensures the team works closely with pyramid partners to support business-specific priorities, solve operational challenges, and deliver project-based support, while also driving broader initiatives that strengthen planning and inventory ways of working across teams.

You will be expected to build a high-performing team, create strong partnership models with the pyramid teams, and ensure alignment between enterprise priorities and pyramid-level execution. Success in this role requires balancing operational excellence, stakeholder responsiveness, and cross-pyramid capability advancement.

As a leader of the PIM ops team you will be responsible for successfully driving the Integrated Demand Planning capability as one of the key partners.

Key skills will be expertise in planning & inventory management systems and principals, translating data from an array of sources into insights and go-forward recommendations, consensus building and influencing at senior levels, strong communication skills, and accountability to driving exceptional results with a sense of urgency.

Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

About you:

  • Graduate / Postgraduate with significant relevant experience in retail planning, demand forecasting, inventory management, merchandising support, or planning operations.
  • 9+ years of overall experience and minimum 2+ years of relevant experience as a people leader
  • Strong domain knowledge in demand forecasting, planning processes, inventory concepts, business rhythms, and operational execution.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, coach, and drive high performance through clear expectations, prioritization, and development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to translate data into business actions and stakeholder decisions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence cross-functional partners and lead structured business conversations.
  • Strong planning and operational management skills, with the ability to balance tactical execution and strategic improvement.
  • Proficiency in Excel and strong familiarity with reporting / decision-support tools
  • Ability to demonstrate courage, take risks and make decisions in a fast-paced complex environment.
  • Ability to manage an internal CFT to align resources and tactics against strategic business goal.
  • Respects, appreciates and is curious about differences related to working with others; committed to developing an inclusive team
  • A performance-driven individual who demonstrates strong initiative and has superior leadership skills
  • Flexibility, resiliency and nimbleness; comfortable working in “grey areas” that are constantly changing.
  • Ability to breakdown complex problems and develop sustainable solutions in collaboration with SMEs
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and prioritize effectively for direct reports.
  • Ability to set a vision for the team and develop clear milestones and metrics to track progress against goals
