As the Lead CSR Consultant at Target India, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Target’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community impact. You will lead key initiatives that align with Target’s global sustainability goals and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive meaningful change. This position offers the opportunity to shape and execute Target’s CSR & Volunteering strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities while positively impacting communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Execution: Lead the design, development, and execution of Target’s CSR & Volunteering strategy in India, ensuring alignment with global CSR policies, business objectives, and applicable regulations.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with internal business teams to define CSR goals, create actionable plans, and drive shared ownership across the organization. Work closely with external NGOs and partners to enhance Target’s social impact initiatives.
  • Roadmap Development: Spearhead the creation of a comprehensive CSR & Volunteering roadmap that engages stakeholders, inspires action, and aligns with long-term sustainability goals.
  • Activation & Measurement: Develop a human-centered, leader-led activation plan that drives awareness, adoption, and measurable impact. Lead the tracking and reporting of CSR outcomes to ensure transparency and continuous improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Team Leadership: Lead and manage cross-functional teams focused on high-impact community initiatives. Gain senior leadership buy-in, ensure alignment with relevant departments, and establish clear success metrics.
  • Annual Strategy Planning: Develop and manage an annual CSR plan, identifying the systems, processes, and resources needed to execute projects efficiently.
  • NGO Engagement & Partnership: Evaluate potential NGO partners for alignment with Target’s CSR goals, manage the application and funding processes, and ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of funded initiatives.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Oversee the monitoring and compliance of CSR activities in accordance with India’s Companies Act, ensuring all initiatives meet legal and regulatory standards.
  • Committee & Meeting Management: Manage CSR Committee meetings (bi-annually) and monthly cross-functional team meetings. Ensure that necessary processes and approvals are in place for strategic decisions.
  • Volunteer Engagement: Lead the design and implementation of volunteer programs, assessing their impact on both the community and Target team members.
  • Storytelling & Communication: Collaborate with Communications, Marketing, and Corporate Relations teams to share stories of community impact and ensure CSR initiatives are effectively communicated both internally and externally.
  • Financial & Procurement Oversight: Oversee financial processes related to CSR activities, ensuring responsible budgeting and procurement.
  • Subject-Matter Expertise: Serve as a thought leader on CSR best practices and trends, advising both internal teams and external partners on emerging issues and opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 10 years of relevant experience in CSR, sustainability, or social impact sectors, with a proven track record in strategy development and complex project implementation.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, track outcomes, and leverage insights to inform decision-making and improve program effectiveness.
  • Community Knowledge: Deep understanding of social and environmental issues impacting communities, as well as the landscape of NGO partnerships and legal compliance related to CSR.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a talent for turning complex challenges into actionable plans.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Experience in building and sustaining collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders, including NGOs, government bodies, and business organizations.
  • Passion for Social Impact: A genuine passion for driving societal change through innovative CSR programs and community engagement efforts.
