"If we're going to make justice a reality for everyone, we need to turn law from an abstraction or a threat into something that every single person can understand, use and shape."
VIVEK MARU
CEO, NAMATI

We're proud to support Namati and its mission to advance social and environmental justice by building a movement of people who know, use and shape the law.
Namati and its partners train and deploy community paralegals in six countries. The paralegals support their communities to protect common lands, enforce environmental law and secure basic rights to healthcare and citizenship. Together with the communities they serve, they translate lessons from their grassroots experience into positive, large-scale changes to laws and systems.
In addition, Namati convenes the Legal Empowerment Network — the largest community of grassroots justice defenders in the world. The network brings together over 2,700 organizations and 10,000 individuals from over 170 countries, all working to advance justice for all.
The Target Foundation’s grant support will be used over the next three years to help enable Namati to strengthen the Legal Empowerment Network to more effectively advocate for sustainable livelihoods.
