Target’s Global UX team is a group of design, research, and accessibility practitioners and experts focused on improving and innovating digital experiences for Target’s guests, team members, and partners. Here, we design tangible, inspiring, and impactful solutions that serve all aspects of our business and play a critical role in shaping Target’s digital experience through insight, rigor, and human-centered thinking.

About the role:

As a Director of Quantitative UX Research and AI Enablement, you’ll lead Target’s enterprise UX quantitative research strategy, experience measurement, and responsible AI-enabled research. This leader will set the strategy for the function, guide the team’s day-to-day work, and lead major initiatives and core programs that advance Target’s goals.

You’ll shape how Target learns through UX metrics, benchmarking, longitudinal voice-of-the-user programs, user panels, survey research, experimentation, and behavioral analysis, translating those insights into product and business decisions. You’ll also partner with internal teams and vendors to bring these programs to life using the right tools and platforms.

Success for this leader requires strong partnership with UX, product, technology, analytics, business, and insight partners to establish direction, align on priorities, and build trust in the work. You’ll set responsible AI guidance and standards so research is structured, reusable, discoverable, and ready to support AI-enabled workflows, including agents and synthetic users.

As an experienced people leader, you will coach and develop a team of five researchers supporting priority product areas through embedded partnership, quantitative research, and early-stage human-centered design, while strengthening rigor, speed, and impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategy, standards, and maturity for quantitative UX research, experience measurement, and AI enablement across Target’s digital ecosystem
  • Oversee programs such as UX metrics, benchmarking, survey research, user panels, and longitudinal tracking
  • Establish rigorous and scalable approaches for survey design, sampling, analysis, reporting, and synthesis
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders and insight teams to connect research, experimentation, product analytics, and business priorities to roadmaps and outcomes
  • Define how Target uses AI agents and synthetic users in research, and establish guidance for responsible use across UX Research and adjacent partner teams
  • Advance Target’s research ecosystem so insights are organized, reusable, and ready to support AI-enabled workflows
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of five researchers supporting priority product areas through embedded partnership, quantitative research, and early-stage human-centered design
  • Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

About you:

  • 10+ years of experience in UX research, quantitative research, applied research, or a related field with a strong understanding of human-centered design and digital product development
  • Deep expertise in quantitative methods such as survey design, sampling, measurement, benchmarking, statistical analysis, and longitudinal tracking
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale measurement programs and influencing decisions with data
  • Strong understanding of how quantitative research connects with qualitative research, experimentation, behavioral data, product analytics, and business performance
  • Experience shaping research standards, governance, tooling, repositories, or other scalable research capabilities
  • Demonstrated understanding of how AI can responsibly support UX research, including opportunities, risks, governance needs, and implications for quality
  • Ability to make research more structured, discoverable, reusable, and AI-ready while maintaining human judgment, context, ethics, and rigor
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues that may impair the team from meeting strategic, business, or financial goals
  • Strong data-driven visual, verbal, and written story-telling skills with ability to bring partners along
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience with demonstrated success hiring, coaching, and developing high-performing, cross-geography or remote teams
  • Experience working in large, matrixed organizations a plus
