Sweet, Minty and Only at Target: Starbucks’ New Holiday Drink Has Arrived

The holidays just got a little sweeter (and cooler). Starting November 18, Target and Starbucks are giving guests a brand-new way to enjoy the season with a Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate, available exclusively at Starbucks cafés inside Target stores nationwide. It’s the first-ever holiday-exclusive drink created just for the millions of guests who already enjoy Starbucks while shopping at Target, making it easier than ever to sip, shop and celebrate. And for an extra sprinkle of joy, Target Circle 360 members — part of our paid membership program — get 24-hour early access to the drink on November 171.

This festive drink is a twist on a holiday classic, a creme Frappuccino with a blend of mocha sauce, milk and ice, poured over a layer of peppermint-flavored whipped cream and red and green sprinkles. The beverage is then finished with another swirl of peppermint-flavored whipped cream and a shake of red and green sprinkles. It’s the perfect companion to add a little bit of holiday cheer to your Target run.

A partnership made for the holidays

“For so many people, a Target run starts with grabbing their favorite drink from Starbucks before browsing our aisles, so together we’re building on that magic with an exclusive, only-at-Target drink to add a little extra cheer to holiday shopping,” says Lisa Roath, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer of food, essentials and beauty, Target. “Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate is everything you’d expect when you combine Target and Starbucks. It’s fun, it’s creative and it’s delicious — an absolute can’t-miss as you get ready to celebrate the holidays.

From menu brainstorming to flavor testing, teams from Target’s food and beverage trend team and the Starbucks product development and design teams explored the flavors of the season, including a sneak peek at what guests will find across Target’s owned brands this holiday like Favorite Day’s Peppermint Latte Hot Cocoa Bomb, Peppermint Dark Chocolate Mini Waffle Cones and Hot Cocoa Bar kit, that inspired the drink’s cozy flavor profile. From there, the teams landed on Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate, a beverage that celebrates the best of both brands: Starbucks’ beverage innovation and Target’s commitment to creating a seamless, uplifting guest experience from café to cart.

“We wanted to create something festive and fun just for Target guests,” says Alicia Binion, from the Starbucks beverage development team. “The Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate is a delicious beverage that brings together rich chocolate and cool peppermint flavors, as well as red and green sprinkles for a pop of color and crunch. It’s a sweet way to pause during the holiday rush and enjoy a little seasonal cheer.”

Guests can order the Starbucks Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate while shopping in store or through the Target app with Drive Up, making it easy to add a little seasonal cheer to any trip. It’s one more way we’re meeting guests wherever they are, whether they’re picking up an order on the go, gearing up for some holiday shopping or taking a cozy moment to recharge before heading home. No extra stops, no added stress, just a touch of comfort and convenience during the busiest time of year.
