Target pharmacists help prepare guests to conquer an intense allergy season
With allergy season underway and experts predicting a longer and more intense season, a new survey from Target Corp. (NYSE: TGT) finds that nearly seven out of 10 adult Americans suffer from spring allergies and more than half (56 percent) of sufferers are seeking advice from a pharmacist or doctor. At Target, guests will find knowledgeable pharmacists ready to answer guests’ most important allergy season questions, along with a wide variety of over-the-counter allergy relief products and spring cleaning necessities throughout the store.
The survey, which was conducted online within the United States by Harris Interactive on behalf of Target in March 2013 among 2,111 adults ages 18 and older, also revealed that more than one-third of allergy sufferers report the worst parts of spring allergy season are the side effects from medication (34 percent), not being able to enjoy time outside (32 percent) and sleep interference (32 percent). Only one in four adults who suffer from spring allergies (25 percent) said they are prepared for allergy season.
“As Americans begin to take more control over their health care choices, pharmacists have emerged as a valuable and trusted resource. Target pharmacists serve as a partner on both sides of the counter and can help guests find relief by identifying the best over-the-counter products to alleviate and treat specific allergy symptoms and triggers,” said Kevin Ronneberg, MD, associate medical director, Target.”
Target also asked more than 1,200 Target pharmacists to reveal the top concerns among Target guests suffering from allergies. When surveyed about the three questions they answer most frequently for guests during allergy season, Target pharmacists shared the following: “Which of these drugs would you recommend I take to alleviate my allergy symptoms?”, “What’s the difference between the store brand and name brand over-the-counter medicines?” and “What medications are safe for my child to take?”
Target strives to help guests achieve their wellness goals by making products, services and expertise more accessible, convenient and affordable. Target has 1,653 Target pharmacy locations nationwide and the pharmacists are always available to help guests find solutions that meet their needs this allergy season. Target also offers spring cleaning products such as up&up disinfectant wipes as well as air filters and vacuums to trap allergy triggers and help keep the pollen and allergen counts lower in your home.
