Target is bringing music to the ears of Mission, B.C. residents by bringing home their shining star, two-time Grammy nominated Canadian singer, Carly Rae Jepsen.  On the final leg of its cross-country road trip, Target will host a complimentary concert starring Carly Rae Jepsen on Monday, December 17 at the Clarke Foundation Theatre. Tickets will be given away at the Mission Leisure Centre, Arena Entrance, 7650 Grand St., Mission, B.C. beginning Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. PST, courtesy of Target. Quantities are limited, 500 tickets will be distributed (one per person standing in the line).

“The Target Road Trip was about getting to know our Canadian guests and sharing something special with them along the way,” said Livia Zufferli, director, Marketing, Target Canada.  “We are so excited to bring home one of Canada’s newest rising stars, Carly Rae Jepsen, to her hometown on the west coast to help spread some holiday cheer this season.”

“I’m so grateful to be back home in Mission where I’ve received such strong support from day one,” said Jepsen.  “Target is known for supporting their local communities and I’m thrilled to be a part of their tour for their stop in Mission so I can help to do the same.”

The Target Road Trip launched in Halifax, Nova Scotia on November 30 and has since stopped in numerous communities including Quebec City, Toronto, North Bay and Sudbury – to name just a few.  The bus will continue west after the concert Monday evening. Guests can follow the tour progress at Facebook.com/TargetCanada and Twitter.com/Target_CA.

Carly Rae Jepsen is a two-time Grammy nominated recording artist and singer-songwriter from Mission, British Columbia. Although she’s been an established artist in Canada for several years — with a third-place finish on Canadian Idol, two gold singles, two albums, and two Juno Award nominations to her name — Jepsen was a virtual unknown in the U.S. when “Call Me Maybe” hit it big. The 5x-platinum “Call Me Maybe” has sold more than 10 million singles worldwide and climbed to No. 1 in more than 37 countries, including the U.S. where it spent a record-breaking nine weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100.

Target plans to open 124 stores across Canada starting in March/April 2013.
