Target® Corp. (NYSE: TGT) today announced a partnership with Montréal Fashion Week, one of Canada’s most prestigious fashion events. Joining forces with Québec style icon Mitsou Gélinas, Target will have a strong presence throughout the event, which takes place from September 4 to 7 at l’Arsenal.

This partnership with Montréal Fashion Week represents Target’s first foray into Québec, a market known for its fashion forward scene. Target will bring its brand alive through different on-site activations. The objective is to give showgoers a real taste of Target and engage with them in a unique way.

“Montréal Fashion Week is extremely proud to be partnering with Target for its 23rd edition. They have collaborated with iconic designers like Missoni and the late Alexander McQueen. We see their involvement with Montréal Fashion Week as a positive sign for Montréal’s fashion industry,” commented Jean-François Daviau, Co-President, Sensation Mode.

“Just like Montréal, Target is all about style and design. Partnering with Montréal Fashion Week and having Mitsou Gélinas as our Fashion Ambassador for the occasion is our way of introducing the Target brand to our Québec guests,” stated John Morioka, Senior Vice-President, Merchandising, Target Canada. “True to our brand promise of Expect More. Pay Less., Target is committed to making affordable design accessible to all of our Canadian guests when we begin opening our doors in 2013.”

Known for its cutting-edge marketing campaigns, Target intends to enter the Québec market with a fresh approach tailored for the province. As part of its collaboration with Montréal Fashion Week and Mitsou, Target will also produce compelling multimedia content for its digital platforms. Fashion-savvy Quebeckers can follow Target’s new online communities: @TARGET_FR and @TARGET_CA or Facebook.com/TargetCanada (bilingual) to interact directly with the retailer and experience Montréal Fashion Week through the eyes of Mitsou.

As previously announced, Target plans to open 125 to 135 stores in Canada beginning in 2013, with the first stores in Québec opening in the fall.  More than $10 million will be invested to renovate each location in order to offer the full Target-brand experience to Québec. Target expects to employ 150 to 200 team members at each location, with hiring for the Quebec market slated to start in early 2013.
