Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) today announced it is partnering with the legendary Tony Bennett to offer the exclusive deluxe edition of his next studio album, “Duets II.” The deluxe edition of “Duets II” will be available at Target stores and at Target.com beginning September 20. “Duets II” marks the second time the GRAMMY® award-winning singer has partnered with Target since the 2006 release of his album, “Duets An American Classic.”
“I celebrated my 85th birthday in August and the celebration is continuing with this special gift to my fans,” said Tony Bennett. “I hope they enjoy the extra songs found only at Target.”
The Target version of the album includes two exclusive songs from country singer Brad Paisley and soprano singer Jackie Evancho. Bennett partners with Paisley for a smooth version of “They Can’t Take That Away From Me,” and Evancho for a rendition of “When You Wish Upon a Star.” Also available on September 20, and only at Target.com, is an exclusive downloadable video that explores the making of “Duets II.”
“Tony Bennett has legions of music fans that span generations and genres,” said John Butcher, vice president of Entertainment, Target. “His music is timeless and we welcomed the opportunity to partner with Tony again to produce a deluxe edition of “Duets II” for Target.”
Tony Bennett is best-known for hits such as “The Way You Look Tonight,” “Blue Velvet,” “It Had to Be You,” “Rags to Riches” and “For Once in My Life.” One of the most popular traditional pop and jazz musicians of our time, Bennett has been singing professionally for more than 60 years. A living legend and winner of 15 Grammy Awards, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Bennett delivered his first No. 1 hit single, “Because of You,” in 1951, followed by a second No. 1 in the same year, “Cold, Cold Heart,” a Hank Williams original. Bennett is a Kennedy Center Honoree, an NEA Jazz Master and was honored by the United Nations for his humanitarian efforts. He is scheduled to perform throughout the U.S. during the remainder of 2011.
