Upscale discounter will remodel store to offer convenient, fresh food options
Target (NYSE:TGT) today announces the re-opening on August 19, 2010, of the Target store in Nashville, Tenn. at 3171 Lebanon Pike, after it was damaged by the flooding in early May.
“Target has been part of the community for nearly 30 years. As part of Target’s longstanding commitment to the Nashville community, we wanted to open the store as soon as possible and provide a place where Nashville residents can get the critical supplies they need,” said Joy Yancey, Store Team Leader. “We’re proud to quickly re-open our store, provide food and supplies and help Nashville recover from this disaster.”
To provide the Nashville community with the best shopping experience, Target will immediately begin remodeling the store to offer our new selection of fresh foods - featuring fresh produce, fresh meat and bakery goods. This new format will showcase an open-market layout and include new food items that are on guests’ shopping list every week. The store will remain open for business throughout the four-month remodel. Once the remodel is completed in October, the store will be the first in the Nashville area to offer the expanded food layout.
At Target, helping our teams and communities prepare for and recover from disasters is a top priority. Target donated $25,000 in cash and product to assist with relief efforts immediately following the flooding. Since the initial donation, Target stores in the region have donated an additional $50,000 to local communities and Target recently committed $10,000 to support the United Way’s efforts to provide school supplies to children impacted by the flooding.
