Striking Grounds
  • Nine 40-foot tall metal topiary frames line the plaza walkway and are planted with climbing vines that will adorn the structures throughout the baseball season.
  • Each topiary frame is lit with LED lights allowing the vines to be illuminated in a variety of colors and designs adding to the engaging and active atmosphere.
  • More than 2,000 planted trees, shrubs and perennials throughout the Plaza bring a welcoming green space to downtown Minneapolis.
  • Three shade canopies create a more intimate space along the edges of the plaza.
  • Architectural patterns in the Target Plaza walkways add unique design elements and interest to the fan experience.
Winning Art
  • A 7-by-9-foot cast bronze baseball glove sculpture sits in the turf area on the Plaza’s north side.
  • Final construction is being completed on a tribute wall that will honor fans and past players who have contributed to the legacy of Minnesota Twins baseball.
  • Artist Ned Kahn has created a 285-by-60-foot kinetic wind sculpture that covers the entire south faade of Parking Ramp B. The art piece, entitled ‘The Wave’ is composed of thousands of aluminum flaps that move with air currents to reveal the complex patterns of turbulence in the wind. Lit with LED lights from below, this piece creates an interesting and ever-changing pattern of color and illumination.
