Building on Meaningful Progress: Target’s 2026 Sustainability & Governance Report

  • Sep 10, 2026

At Target, sustainability shows up in the choices we make every day, from the products we design and source to how we operate and deliver elevated experiences for guests. It helps advance our enterprise strategy, serve guests today and build a stronger Target for the future.

Our 2026 Sustainability & Governance Report offers a look at the progress we’ve made and what we’ve learned along the way. That work continues to give us a clearer understanding of where Target can create the greatest value for our business, guests, communities and the planet we call home.

That progress shows up in many ways across our business. Here are just a few highlights:

As Target enters its next chapter of growth, we’re putting our learnings to work through sustainability goals focused on serving busy families, strengthening business resilience and creating long-term value.

That focus comes to life through three interconnected ambitions: Product, Planet and People

Planet

Resilient and Efficient Operations

Make intentional choices and build a more resilient business by preserving resources and reducing emissions and waste so we can continue serving guests reliably today and into the future. That includes expanding on-site solar to 617 locations and working with suppliers to strengthen resilience across our value chain.

People

Thriving Team and Communities

Invest in people across our business, supply chain and communities to fuel growth and opportunity. That means supporting worker well-being and strengthening the communities where our team and guests live and work.

Moving forward, together

Many sustainability challenges and opportunities extend beyond any one company. Continued progress will take strong partnerships, new ideas and a willingness to keep learning.

We’ll bring that perspective into the everyday decisions that shape our business while continuing to work alongside suppliers, business partners and industry organizations.

It’s all part of building a stronger, more resilient Target that can keep delivering the style, design and value busy families count on while creating lasting value for our business and the communities we serve.
