Adapting communication style to build trusting relationships with guests and influence tech solutions
Retail business fundamentals, including inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing and promotion strategies
Engaging with Tech and Entertainment products, including video game trends, , , health tech, tech accessories, books, music and pop culture assortment
As a Tech Consultant, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:
Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments:
Greet:
10ft: be friendly – smile, make eye contact, or wave
4ft: greet the guest, smile and initiate a warm, helpful interaction
Help guests find what they need and/or resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience
End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you
Actively support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude
Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience
Be aware of top sellers and new product trends to help guests find the right technology solutions and accessories to complete their purchase.
Be aware of new releases across Music, Books, and Video Games and ensure product is ready for the guest at open.
Create an inviting shopping environment by ensuring product is in stock, signed correctly, and that the area is clean and available for guests to shop.
Support changes to product assortment and keep Electronics inspiring to guests all year round by maintaining a brand space following new sets.
Be an advocate for Target owned brands and knowledgeable about their benefits (extended returns, price point, guarantees, etc.).
Help the guest get the most out of their new tech purchase by sharing various accessory options.
Maintain up to date knowledge of extended warranty (Allstate and Apple Care+) and buy now, pay later options (Affirm).
Always demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive-up (DU) and maintain a compliance culture while executing those duties, such as compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
All other duties based on business needs.

The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything you need to know to be a Tech Consultant. But, there are a few skills you should have from the get-go:
6+ months previous retail experience preferred, but not required
Strong interest in electronics and entertainment products, particularly, health tech, video games, tech accessories, books and music.
Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
Effective communication skills
Work both independently and with a team
Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot
Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.

Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
Climb up and down ladders
Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 15 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from others
Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays); come to work when scheduled, work scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks
Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Ups, carryout, etc.
Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
