Target is pleased to announce that it will open its second CityTarget store in the city of San Francisco in October 2013. The San Francisco West CityTarget will be 119,000 square-feet and located at the southwest corner of Geary and Masonic Streets. On October 10, 2012, the company opened the doors to the city’s first-ever Target store, also a CityTarget, at the Metreon.

“We are thrilled to call San Francisco home to our newest CityTarget at Geary and Masonic,” said Cary Strouse, Target’s senior vice president of stores in the Western region. “With more than five CityTarget locations confirmed, California has always been a strong market for Target. We are excited to continue being a good neighbor and developing long-lasting relationships with guests at both San Francisco Target stores.”

The San Francisco West CityTarget will offer commuters, tourists and urban dwellers the convenience of one-stop shopping with urban living essentials, on-trend fashions and exclusive designer collections. The store also will include a Starbucks and a pharmacy to further enhance guests’ shopping experience.

San Francisco’s newest CityTarget will employ approximately 250 team members. Target will host job fairs approximately two months prior to the new store opening, where prospective candidates may apply and interview for open team member positions. Prospective candidates may also apply online at Target.com/careers or at in-store kiosks located at all Target stores approximately three months prior to the new store opening.

In addition to the Metreon location in San Francisco, Target opened two CityTargets in the city of Los Angeles at Westwood Market Place and a downtown location at Figueroa and 7th.  With five locations confirmed, the state of California has more CityTargets than any other state in the nation.  Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Westwood, Calif. locations were opened earlier this year.  In addition to the San Francisco West CityTarget, the company has announced 2013 openings in Portland and Los Angeles.

Since 2011, Target has contributed more than $2 million to support the San Francisco-area community, including Field Trip Grants to San Francisco-area schools, a School Library Makeover at Sanchez College Preparatory School and support for local chapters of the United Way through store grants and employee contributions.
