Your Target run just got even more convenient: Guests with an iPhone nationwide can now access Drive Up and Order Pickup services using the Target app in Apple CarPlay. True to our ability to innovate and tap technology to drive growth, Target is the first retailer to offer guests the ability to navigate to a store for a curbside order through CarPlay.

To use this new feature, make a Drive Up or Pickup order in the Target app on your iPhone before starting your drive. Then, once you are in the car and connected to CarPlay — available in nearly all new cars today — the Target app will automatically display the Target store where you made your purchase right in the car display. From there, you can view order details, get directions and notify the store when you are on your way to pick up your purchase, and when you arrive in your Drive Up parking space.

The new functionality makes Drive Up a convenient and timesaving win, helping you navigate to the right store hands free.

“The introduction of the Drive Up feature in the Target app with Apple CarPlay is a win for our guests and a win for our team as we make it even easier to find a store and complete your Target run,” said Mark Schindele, chief stores officer, Target. “No matter how guests choose to shop with us — in store, online or using our same-day services — they can expect us to deliver innovative touches that make everyday moments even better.”

The integration of Drive Up with Apple CarPlay is the latest example of how Target is listening to consumers and investing in technology to make our fulfillment services even more convenient and easier to use.

How it works

Drive Up is now available in the Target app in Apple CarPlay, enabling you to find your “Ready for pickup” orders and nearby Target stores. Here’s how it works:

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of the Target app on your phone.
  2. Connect your iPhone to Apple CarPlay in your vehicle.
  3. Open the Target app that appears on your vehicle’s display.
    • Select Drive Up to see if you have any eligible “Ready for pickup” orders (for either Drive Up or Order Pickup). Follow the prompts to pick up on your vehicle’s display.
    • Select “Find a store” to see nearby Target stores and get directions from Apple Maps.

Next level

Since launching Drive Up in 2017, we’ve been listening to guests to make the experience even more rewarding — including the ability to make returns and add a Starbucks order. The ability to access the Target app in Apple CarPlay makes Drive Up even more convenient by showing you which store has your order for pickup and guiding you there. And we’ll continue to evolve Drive Up to make it accessible to even more consumers, with a version for Android Auto now live.
