When students walk through the doors of the Al Lenzmeier West Side Boys & Girls Club in St. Paul, MN, this fall, they’ll discover more than renovated rooms and fresh paint. They’ll find welcoming spaces designed to inspire creativity, connection and possibility, made possible through Target’s signature community activation, Bullseye Builds, which brings together Target’s volunteerism and design expertise alongside partners to vitalize shared spaces based on needs identified by the community.
This summer, Team Target worked in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities, Heart of America and the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx to transform the St. Paul Club into a brighter, more functional place where local kids and teens can learn, play and grow. Together, we turned a shared vision into reality, demonstrating the power of partnership to create meaningful, community-centered impact . The project reflects Target’s longstanding commitment to strengthening communities by combining volunteerism, trusted partnerships, and the company’s unique expertise in style and design.
A purposeful Bullseye Build in Target’s hometown
We care deeply about the role Target plays in our communities, and that starts with listening. Bullseye Builds brings together what communities tell us they need with the talents of our team and partners to make a meaningful difference in the neighborhoods we call home.
There’s something especially meaningful about bringing Bullseye Builds to the Twin Cities, the community Target has proudly called home for decades. This marks the third Bullseye Build in Minneapolis-St. Paul since the program began in 2024 and the first hometown project this year following Target’s 2026 investment to expand Bullseye Builds projects across the country. Unlike recent one-day builds, this transformation took shape over several weeks, with construction crews and Team Target volunteers working side by side to reimagine the space.
Creating spaces for kids and teens to thrive
From kindergarten classrooms to teen gathering spaces, nearly every corner of the Club received a refresh. The renovation included updates to flooring, walls, windows, and ceilings, while volunteers assembled furniture, landscaped outdoor areas, painted murals and added finishing touches throughout the building. The result is a warm and welcoming environment designed to support the everyday experiences that matter most to young people.
Bringing Target’s style and design strengths to community impact
Bullseye Builds brings some of Target’s unique strengths beyond our stores and into community spaces.
At the St. Paul Club, more than 100 items from Target owned brands including Threshold, Room Essentials, Pillowfort and Brightroom helped create functional, welcoming spaces for kids and teens of all ages.
Target Creative also designed custom murals in spaces, including one that looks over the basketball court, that bring color, energy and inspiration throughout the Club — adding a distinctly Target touch and creating a more inviting environment where young people feel supported and encouraged to thrive.
Building a model for what comes next
The transformation of the St. Paul Club is one example of what’s possible when we listen to our communities, work alongside trusted partners and bring the best of Target to the table. Here in our hometown, that means creating a welcoming space where kids and teens can learn, connect and thrive for years to come.
And the impact extends beyond St. Paul. As Bullseye Builds continues in communities across the country, in fact, we have seven more builds scheduled in 2026, we’ll keep listening to what our partners need and work together to vitalize shared spaces — strengthening the communities we’re proud to call home.
These education spaces will give young people more opportunities to discover their interests, build confidence and imagine what’s possible for their futures.
