Digital SNAP Benefit Payment Capabilities Fact Sheet

Updated 10:00am CT | Sep 28, 2022

Target guests in select states can now pay for SNAP-eligible grocery items on, an enhancement to existing SNAP payment capabilities in-store. Mobile payment options for digital orders via the Target app are also coming soon.

Target has accepted SNAP payment in our stores for years, and guests can currently use SNAP benefits in all of our 1,900+ locations nationwide. Upon partnering with the USDA in the spring of 2021, Target began a test-and-learn approach to how we can make it easier to shop digitally using SNAP for our full range of products, including food. We piloted the option in Minnesota in summer of 2022 and began rolling it out more broadly to guests in eligible states in September 2022.

Target has begun piloting digital SNAP EBT in several U.S. states that have implemented SNAP online. We’ll continue rolling out more pilot locations and work closely with the USDA as additional states become eligible.

As of September 2022, we currently offer digital SNAP EBT in the following states:

  • Florida
  • Hawaii
  • Illinois
  • Iowa
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • North Carolina
  • Ohio
  • Texas
