The pay range is $92,000.00 - $166,000.00

About Us

The Strategic Intelligence Team serves as Target’s source of truth for macroeconomic, retail industry and competitive insights and intelligence. The team is responsible for developing actionable insights that inform Target’s corporate strategy, planning, and portfolio decisions. To do so, the team produces analytically ambitious, predictive intelligence with compelling narratives that help shape Target’s short- and long-term aspirations. The team operates in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. Each team member develops a deep and proactive understanding of the rapidly evolving industry, consumer, competitor, and regional drivers and trends. The Intelligence Lead will be responsible for leading strategic intelligence project work for the Executive Leadership Team, Enterprise Strategy Pyramid and Board of Directors.

Position Overview

The candidate will be responsible for the following:

· Create learning plan and routines to deliver proactive insights and intelligence for core competitors in service of Target’s strategic direction

· Serve as an expert for the team in extracting meaningful competitive intelligence from financial performance and investment strategies

· Own complex and extensive toolkit of qualitative and quantitative data sets and translate those into actionable frameworks and narratives

· Develop routines and indicators to maintain ongoing monitoring of competitor dynamics and identify forward looking implications

· Build trusted relationships and manage collaborative projects with partners across the enterprise

· Create synthesized, compelling and actionable narratives for senior leaders to inform their decision making

About You

· 4-year college degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field, post graduate degree strongly preferred

· Minimum 5 years of work experience in investment industry, finance, corporate development, venture capital, private equity, or similar

· Strategic thinker with demonstrated analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills grounded in quantitative analysis

· Demonstrated ability to lead strategic project work, simultaneously managing working team, partner and executive relationships

· Demonstrated ability to synthesize and clearly communicate complex findings to focus on critical issues and actionable opportunities

· Demonstrated ability to operate independently while acting as a trusted thought partner for peers and senior leaders

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to tell compelling business and result stories with data

· Innate curiosity and desire to learn with a strong inclination to drive for results in ambiguous spaces

· Prior experience or strong understanding of retail or CPG industry and competitive intelligence strongly preferred

This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs.  A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.  A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
