The pay range is $128,000.00 - $231,000.00

As a lead engineer, you serve as the technical anchor for the engineering team that supports a product. You create, own and are responsible for the application architecture that best serves the product in its functional and non-functional needs. You identify and drive architectural changes to accelerate feature development or improve the quality of service (or both). You have deep and broad engineering skills and are capable of standing up an architecture in its whole on your own, but you choose to influence a wider team by acting as a “force multiplier”. The Properties, Demand Planning Team is building applications and tools that ensure the right indirect materials — like construction supplies and equipment such as refrigerators — get to the right place at the right time. These materials support new store programs as well as remodel projects across the enterprise.

Core Technologies:

  • Languages: Java, Kotlin, Groovy, React
  • Frameworks/Runtimes: Micronaut, Spring Boot, Praxis
  • Messaging & APIs: REST, Kafka
  • Databases: PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch

About You:

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Strong Backend (Java/Spring Boot) programming experience and some frontend (React) experience
  • Familiarity with CICD pipelines
  • Demonstrates strong proficiency in core development platforms
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently with minimal assistance or as part of the broader team.
  • Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities
  • Clearly communicates Agile concepts to partners within product team.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills and ability to effectively work with the team and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of the impact of own work on the team and/or guests
  • Writes and organizes code using multiple computer languages, including distributed programming and understand different frameworks and paradigm
  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
  • Influences and applies data standards, policies, and procedures

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team, and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
