About the Role

At Target, we believe data is more than just numbers—it’s the voice of our guests, our stores, and our business. The Marketing Analytics and Insights team turns data into meaning. And now, we’re looking for a Senior Data Analyst who thrives on translating business results into compelling stories that drive action.

This role is an exciting opportunity for a curious and collaborative analyst who is energized by connecting with stakeholders, simplifying complexity, and shaping strategy through insights. While a foundational understanding of technical tools is expected, the heart of this role lies in storytelling—helping the business understand what’s happening, why it matters, and what we should do next.

You’ll sit at the intersection of data and strategy, serving as a trusted advisor and insight translator across teams. Your analysis won’t just inform; it will inspire decisions that drive the business forward.

What You’ll Do

- Explore and interpret data to uncover the story behind business performance—what happened, why it matters, and what comes next.

- Conduct ad hoc and deep-dive analyses that identify new opportunities, answer strategic questions, and support decision-making.

- Work closely with marketing and other cross-functional partners to understand business needs and translate insight from guest performance data into data-driven strategies.

- Develop intuitive, action-oriented dashboards and visualizations that highlight key takeaways—not just numbers.

- Lead storytelling sessions and presentations with key leaders and stakeholders, communicating insights clearly and effectively.

- Build strong relationships across the business to stay plugged into evolving priorities and ensure analytics stay relevant and impactful.

What We’re Looking For

- 4-year degree in Analytics, Statistics, or related field—or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree a plus.

- 3+ years in a data analyst or similar role, with a demonstrated focus on storytelling, stakeholder communication, and business strategy. 5+ years preferred.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills—you’re as comfortable in front of a dashboard as you are in a strategy meeting

- Proven ability to distill complex data into clear, persuasive narratives

- Working knowledge of data tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Python or R)—enough to explore, extract, and summarize insights

- Deep curiosity about guest behavior, business trends, and how data connects the two

- Experience partnering with non-technical stakeholders to drive strategy

- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI to create dashboards and visually communicate insights

- Proficient in SQL with the ability to write queries to extract and manipulate data from large databases. Familiarity with Python or R for basic data wrangling and exploratory analysis

Why You’ll Love It Here

- You’ll be part of a team that values clarity, creativity, and connection over technical perfection.

- Your work will have a visible impact on key business strategies and guest experiences.

- You’ll work in a supportive, collaborative environment with opportunities to grow your storytelling, consulting, and influence skills.

This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs.  A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.  A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
