The pay range is $92,000.00 - $166,000.00

As part of the Target Foundation and Corporate Giving team within Community and Stakeholder Engagement, you will apply your knowledge of the Twin Cities community and experience working with the non-profit sector to develop a comprehensive portfolio of philanthropic partnerships. Working in collaboration with the Target Foundation, you will build relationships with key local stakeholders, actively engage in community and grantee events and convenings, and continually evaluate the impact of partnerships and initiatives. In this role, you will develop strong working relationships with leaders across Target to identify and create community engagement opportunities through non-profit board service. Finally, you’ll help influence how Target leverages its distinctive brand and resources to foster a positive brand presence in our Minnesota Headquarter community.

As a Lead Business Partner, Community & Stakeholder Engagement, you will:

  • Develop a comprehensive Minnesota / Headquarter giving strategy anchored to enterprise and community priorities, ensuring measurable outputs and outcomes.
  • Build and manage a philanthropic portfolio of Minnesota-based nonprofit partners in partnership with the Target Foundation appropriate to Target’s size and scale, including stakeholder engagement with cross-sector leaders.
  • Engage with new and existing partners to identify activation opportunities in Target’s MN Headquarters including volunteer initiatives, sponsorships and community events.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with internal business teams on community engagement and collaboration opportunities.
  • Oversee Target’s Board Placement program designed to increase engagement of Target’s senior leaders and extend Target’s support of community partners.
  • Proactively build and capitalize on opportunities for senior leader engagement in community impact programs, community events and partners in Target’s MN Headquarters.
  • Direct the efficient flow of grants through their life cycles, ensuring proposal and reporting compliance, adherence to grant agreements, and timely and accurate processing.
  • Provide robust budget management to maximize value of philanthropic activities.
  • Contribute to and maintain a positive team culture by demonstrating behaviors consistent with Target’s values of Inclusivity, Connection and Drive.

About You:

  • 8 -10 plus years of experience in the private or nonprofit sector developing and leading community giving and engagement strategies.
  • Demonstrated strategic skills with the ability to assess and challenge the current state, develop new approaches and solutions, and identify and execute the tactics necessary to drive a successful implementation.
  • Excellent ability to develop effective written and verbal communications and presentations; strength in distilling large volumes of information into clear, concise and actionable communications.
  • Proven problem solving, critical thinking, analytical and out-side of the box thinking skills – connecting dots and translating ideas into action.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying, cultivating and growing partnerships, experience with public-private partnerships a plus.
  • Ability to lead and influence peers and partner teams without direct authority, and create collaborative partnerships across teams.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and engage with internal and external partners (e.g., senior leaders, vendors, nonprofit and community leaders).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, planning experience and ability to work independently, including the ability to multi-task and manage demands and/or projects simultaneously, maintaining appropriate prioritization and ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  • Proactive and growth mindset; curiosity and drive to listen and learn to and from our team members and the communities Target serves; and a passion for leading with equity and driving community impact.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or other advanced education in a related field
  • Previous experience in retail or other matrixed corporate environment

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
