Providing personalized beauty products and regimen recommendations through guest engagement, product training, sampling events and actively selling
Retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing and promotions strategies
Beauty product knowledge including beauty brands, seasonal trends, cosmetics and various skincare products
Driving guest loyalty through internal loyalty programs (Target Circle and Ulta Beauty Rewards) including guest benefits, and understanding how to leverage as a sales-driving tool
As an Ulta Beauty Consultant, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:
Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments:
Greet:
10ft: be friendly – smile, make eye contact, or wave
4ft: greet the guest, smile and initiate a warm, helpful interaction
Help guests find what they need and/or resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience
End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you
Actively support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude
Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience
Support guests with genuine interaction to understand their needs and what level of service they prefer; ask open-ended questions to provide appropriate recommendations, product knowledge, and drive sales.
Prioritize guest interaction and engagement while still completing tasks within the shop such as ensuring product is organized, in stock and signed correctly, pricing is accurate, cleaning and maintaining testers and sampling supplies, and completing changes to salesfloor merchandise displays.
Invite guests to become members of loyalty programs; share the benefits and perks of programs and assist guests with sign up and linking.
Encourage guests to explore Beauty with confidence by making sure the area is clean, testers are available, and surprising and delighting them with product samples.
Participate in weekly trainings focused on newness, industry trends, product knowledge, and guest engagement techniques to enable continuous development and drive sales performance.
Familiarize yourself with prestige product ingredients and benefits; leverage training resources, product packaging, in-store marketing, and store tools.
Always demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.

The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything you need to know to be an Ulta Beauty Consultant. But there are a few skills you should have from the get-go:
12+ months previous beauty retail experience preferred, but not required
Strong interest and knowledge of beauty and skincare products
Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
Ability to communicate on multiple frequencies devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
Effective communication skills
Work both independently and with a team
Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot
Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframe
We are an awesome place to work and care about our teams, so we want to make sure we are clear on a few more basics that we expect:
Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
Climb up and down ladders
Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 15 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from others
Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays); come to work when scheduled, work scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks
Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).
