Ever since we announced plans to reimagine hundreds of stores over the next three years, our teams have been hard at work bringing to life new enhancements to make the shopping experience easier and more inspiring for our guests. In fact, we’ve completed 45 remodels so far this year, with 65 more stores to be renovated throughout the fall. By the end of 2019, more than one-third of our stores will be reimagined—part of our $7+ billion investment to become an even better, more modern Target.
The latest store location to get a makeover? Our two-story Nicollet Mall store in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, just steps away from our headquarters. A local favorite since it opened back in 2001, it was a natural choice for the first Twin Cities store to feature our next generation of design elements. Our $10 million investment includes a top-to-bottom overhaul that combines the best of our digital and technology upgrades, elevated merchandise presentations and fulfillment services to make shopping fast, efficient and fun—all to give guests more of what they already love about the bullseye.
As the store gears up to celebrate the remodel completion this month, we got a VIP tour from Joe Perdew, vice president, Store Design. Take a look:
Walking the store, Joe told us more about what it takes for his 170-member store design team to pull off so many of these major redesigns so quickly, all the while adding elements unique to each location to make them locally relevant.
“We design everything with the guest in mind,” he said. “We’re always thinking about the different ways a guest might want to shop on any given day. Sometimes, they only have 10 minutes and want to grab an order quickly using Order Pickup. Other times, they have 45 minutes—time to grab a coffee at Starbucks and browse the aisles. And sometimes, they want to shop online from the comfort of their couch. Our goal is to make it a great Target experience no matter which way they choose to shop.”
