Careers FAQs
We're here to help. Frequently asked career questions, answered.
Ready to apply?
Answers to your pre-application questions.
I'm already a Target team member, where do I apply?
If you are a current team member, partner with your leader to start the application process. Login to the Workday Career Hub to start exploring internal career resources and learning more about growing with Target. If you’re ready to get started on your job search, click the "Browse Jobs" link within Career Hub to search and apply for job opportunities. Be sure to only apply via the internal careers site and upload your Talent Card to your application.
How does a current Target team member refer me for a job?
You can find strength in your network through a referral. If you see a perfect position and know a current Target team member, they can refer you as a candidate for the job before you apply. Once they have completed their referral steps, you’ll receive an email with a link to the job posting. Use the provided link and the same email address to complete your application.
Do I have to apply with a resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)? What about applying using my LinkedIn profile?
We’re excited to get to know you. A resume or CV is not required to apply for jobs but highly encouraged. During the application process, you may choose to upload a resume, CV, letters of recommendation, references and cover letters.
In lieu of a resume or CV, you will be able to manually input your skills and job history. You also have the option to apply using information directly from your LinkedIn profile.
Can I apply for multiple jobs?
Yes, you are welcome to apply for more than one job at a time and use the same candidate profile. However, we recommend that you apply only for jobs that align with your experience and interests.
How do I request a reasonable accommodation?
In compliance with state and federal laws, Target will make reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities. If a reasonable accommodation is needed to participate in the job application or interview process, store candidates can reach out to the specific store directly, contact guest services at (800) 440-0680 or connect with their recruiter, if applicable. HQ and supply chain candidates should reach out to candidate.accommodations@HRHelp.Target.com.
How do I learn about future openings?
If you’d like to be notified of new job openings that match your interests, sign up for our Job Alerts. You’ll be able to select your preferences and receive an email when a job is available in your area of interest. Our recruiters are also able to perform searches based on the information provided in your candidate profile, so it’s important to keep this updated. You can update your profile, including contact information, by logging into your Workday Candidate Homepage at any time. If your experience matches what our recruiters are looking for, they may contact you.
A new Target location is opening near me, where can I find more information?
Visit our new stores page to view open positions for our new locations that are currently hiring. Don’t see the store you're looking for? Visit your nearest Target store for the latest updates and details. Our team members will be happy to help you with all the information you need!

Prepare for what happens next.
How do I check my application status?
After you apply for a job, you will receive email confirmation of submission. You can monitor the status of your application by logging into your Workday Candidate Homepage and selecting from your current applications under “My Applications.” From your Candidate Homepage you can view the status of your application, take action on pending tasks or update your information via Account Settings.
How can I prepare for my phone screen, interview or recorded video interview?
We want to get to know you as a person, not just a team member. That’s why our interviews are designed to get to know both you and your unique skills. Our interviewers will ask for specific examples of how you have performed or responded in a particular situation or how you would handle a similar business problem in the future.
Pro tip: Practice talking about your professional experiences and challenges where you took actions to achieve a desired outcome. Consider any relevant skills, people, processes, timelines or regulations that showcase how you would succeed as a Target team member.
We welcome you to learn more about our hiring process and dig into our interview guidance, or learn more about the process for recorded video interviewing.
Is a background check required as part of the hiring process?
Yes. All Target job offers are contingent upon the successful completion of our pre-employment screening process, which includes a background check. The background check is initiated after you have accepted your conditional job offer and is managed by our vendor, Accurate Background. If you have questions about the results of your background check, contact Accurate Background directly at (855) 581-0580.
Is a drug test required as part of the hiring process?
In accordance with Target’s Drug Free Workplace (DFW) Policy, certain jobs may require a mandatory drug screen as a condition of employment. If the job you’ve received an offer for requires a drug screen, you will be notified at the time of offer and be prompted with next steps during the screening process. The drug screen must be completed within 24 hours of accepting your job offer. Failure to complete a required drug screen in the allotted time may result in the withdrawal of your conditional offer of employment.
Drug screens are managed by our vendor, Accurate Background. You will complete your screening either at a testing location near you or on-site at your future work location. Be prepared to provide your government issued photo ID to confirm your identity when you arrive for a drug screen.
If you have questions about the results of your drug screen, contact Accurate Background directly at (855) 581-0580.
Will I be notified when a job I applied to has been filled?
If you are no longer in consideration for a job you applied to, typically you’ll be contacted via email or directly from the recruiter. You are welcome to check the status of your application by logging into your Workday Candidate Homepage. We encourage you to keep an eye out for future opportunities and apply again when a job matches your experience and interests. We’ll also keep your resume on file and reach out if we think your experience and skills may align with other jobs.
I recently applied or interviewed for a job and wasn’t selected. May I reapply?
If you were not selected for a particular job, you may always reapply to a similar or alternate job at any time. However, due to application system limitations, you may not be able to reapply to the same job for which you were previously not selected. You will see that the “apply” button is grayed out if you have already applied to that position. We recommend that you apply only for those jobs that align with your experience and interests.
How do I view my offer letter after accepting a job?
Log into your Workday Candidate Homepage and navigate to the “My Tasks” section of the page. Select the “Completed” tab, and you will see the link to “Review Conditional Offer.” That will take you back to the original offer.

Scheduling assistance
Help with self-scheduling interviews and appointments.
How do I use the self-scheduling feature?
Some jobs or recruiters may leverage a tool to assist in scheduling phone screens, in-person interviews, mandatory drug screens, and/or other application appointments. If you are invited to use this feature, you will receive an email notifying you of the task. The email will direct you to your Workday Candidate Homepage, where you’ll find the pending task as indicated by a blue “Start” button. Select the task and choose from a list of available dates and times, then select “OK.” You’ll then receive a confirmation email including all necessary details.
What if no dates or times work for me?
If you don’t see an available date or time that works for your schedule, select the “No Dates or Times Work for Me” button and contact your recruiter. If you do not have a recruiter or require further assistance, contact the location you applied to directly.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
We’re happy to work around your schedule. If you need to reschedule an appointment that you scheduled using the self-schedule feature, first navigate to your Workday Candidate Homepage. Select your upcoming appointment from “My Scheduled Events,” then follow the prompts to either cancel or reschedule your appointment. If you require assistance, please contact your recruiter. If you do not have a recruiter, contact the location you applied to directly.
