Empowered to make shopping quick and easy for guests at the checklanes, guest services, gift registry, pick-up and drive up while ensuring exceptional quality.
At Target, we believe in our team members having meaningful experiences that help them build and develop skills for a career. The role of a Front of Store Attendant can provide you with the skills and experience of:
- Guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest first culture across the store
- Communicating and interacting with guests to build an inclusive guest experience
- Adapting to different guest interactions and situations
- Ensuring a safe and clean environment for team members and guests
As a Front of Store Attendant, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard through a brand and clean front of store that’s focused on first and last impressions and shopping experiences.
- Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you are completing your daily tasks.
- When guests need assistance, engage with guests in a welcoming way, to help solve their specific needs.
- Be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the total store, and specific to your area, to solve issues for the guest and improve their experience.
- Thank guests and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target.
- Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
- Ensure guest safety by stocking and maintaining Spill Stations throughout the store to promote spill response time and injury prevention.
- Provide an easy, seamless shopping experience by keeping the carts and baskets well stocked with the appropriate use of cart pusher and clean for guests.
- Provide a friendly response to guest carry out requests.
- Maintain interior and exterior brand, including emptying garbage cans and attending to restroom cleanliness, charge electronic carts and attend to spills throughout the store as needed.
- Empty guest-facing recycling bins when full and collecting hangers for backroom recycling.
- Evaluate carts if damaged and request PML maintenance or repairs.
- Stock spill station and cleanilness supplies during store open hours.
- Be knowledgeable with Target Loyalty programs and the Target app to be able to assist guests when needed.
- Partner with Leaders as needed to de-escalate any situations and recover the guest shopping experience while following Target’s policies and procedures.
- Always demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
- All other duties based on business needs while maintaining a compliance culture while executing those duties, such as compliance with federal, state and local adult beverage laws.

The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything you need to know to be a Front of Store Attendant. But, there are a few skills you should have from the get-go:
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and other team members
- Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
- Work both independently and with a team
- Ability to prioritize duties based on the business.
- Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot
- Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
We are an awesome place to work and care about our teams, so we want to make sure we are clear on a few more basics that we expect:
- Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving product up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from others.
- Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays) and reliable and prompt attendance necessary
- Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).
- Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to , carryout, etc.
