As India faces a devastating and ongoing surge in COVID-19 cases, we’re focused on helping our team members and their families stay healthy and safe, and providing our communities there with additional resources and supplies.

“From the beginning of the pandemic, Target has been committed to meeting the ever-changing needs of our teams, guests and communities,” says Amanda Nusz, senior vice president of corporate responsibility and president of the Target Foundation. “In keeping with that commitment, we’re taking further action and deepening our support of our teams and communities in India as they navigate this heartbreaking increase of COVID-19 cases.”

Part of that support is a Target donation of $500,000 to UNICEF USA to help increase access to life-saving oxygen treatments in hospitals across India and bring faster, more accurate testing resources to the hardest-hit communities. We’re also donating to local nonprofits providing additional aid throughout the country.

And we continue to support our more than 3,400 team members who live and work in India. Throughout the pandemic, we’ve offered additional paid sick leave, time off and family care resources, on top of Target’s full team member benefits program. As the new wave of cases increases in India, we’ve limited our local business hours to give team members flexibility and space to focus on themselves and their families. We’re offering expanded access to Target’s Team Member Giving Fund that provides direct financial relief to team members impacted by disasters and tragedy. And beginning May 1, as adults in India become eligible for the vaccine, we'll support the administration and access of vaccines for our team members and their families enrolled in a Target health insurance plan, as well as all local Target contractors.

As conditions evolve, we’ll keep working closely with our team and partners in India to understand how we can best continue to support their needs. Just as we always have, our Target family will continue to take care of each other and face global challenges as one team.
