In a year like no other, spreading the joy of the holidays is more important than ever. One way Target’s making the season brighter: partnering with the communities we serve to bring joy to kids across the country through our Heroes & Helpers program. And with the safety of our guests, team members and communities our top priority, this year’s Heroes & Helpers events will be fully virtual.
Since 2009, Target’s provided holiday shopping experiences to more than 100,000 underserved kids through the Heroes & Helpers program. New this year, we’re partnering with local nonprofits and accredited schools who have a deep understanding of the needs in their communities to help facilitate this program across the country. And in an extraordinary year during which so many heroes have stepped forward in remarkable ways, we’re expanding the program to include firefighters, paramedics, EMTs and other public safety partners, in addition to law enforcement.
Here’s how the “virtual” part works: Rather than shopping Target aisles this year, participants will use Target.com to browse and purchase whichever holiday gifts they choose. Once the shopping is complete, they can select safe and easy pickup for the children to receive their gifts via our Order Pickup or Drive Up services, or even have their items shipped to them.
With planning already underway, this year’s Heroes & Helpers events will take place throughout the month of December. While 2020 has been anything but predictable, this year’s events are sure to still bring joy amidst challenging times.
