Results from Daytona International Speedway/Sprint Unlimited (w/ starting pos.)

1. Kevin Harvick, No. 29 Chevrolet (17)
10. Juan Pablo Montoya, No. 42 Target Chevrolet (14)

The 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup season officially kicked off with the newly named Sprint Unlimited. 19 drivers were eligible for the exhibition race and Juan Pablo Montoya was among them as he was awarded to Coors Light Pole awards during the 2012 season. Montoya started from the 14th position and ended the three-segment event in the 10th position.

The Target team drew the 14th qualifying spot for the 75-lap race which was divided up into three different segments (30/25/20). The action on track heated up on the very first segment as an on-track incident occurred collecting six cars. Montoya was able to maneuver through the wreckage and continue on for the remaining laps. The No. 42 pitted three times for fuel, tires and various adjustments. On the final segment, the Target Chevrolet was shuffled back in the pack and would end up crossing the finish line in the 10th position. In seven appearances at the season opening race, the Target Chevy has never finished outside of the top-10.

Next up on the Daytona Speedweeks schedule for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will be the Budweiser Duel at Daytona qualifying races on Thurs, Feb. 21 at 2:00 pm (ET); the event will be televised on SPEED, and MRN Radio affiliates.
