Earnhardt Ganassi Racing / Phoenix Race Results

MINNEAPOLIS - March 4, 2012
Final Subway Fresh Fit 500 Results (w/ starting position)
P1       Denny Hamlin, No. 11 Toyota (13)
P11      Juan Pablo Montoya, No. 42 Target Chevrolet (5)
P37     Jamie McMurray, No. 1 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats Chevrolet (21)
  • Today’s race marked only the second time NASCAR has raced on the newly configured Phoenix International Raceway
  • McMurray suffered from a broken motor and had to retire from the race early
  • Montoya’s 11th-place finish marked his third best performance at the mile facility (8th – 2009 & 5th – 2010)
Quote from Juan Pablo Montoya-
“We had a hard time keeping up with the racetrack but the Target guys kept after it and we ended up with an 11th-place finish. For us to struggle like we did and still finish 11th shows just how hard everyone is trying to turn this program around. I’m happy and ready to move on to Vegas.”

Quote from Jamie McMurray-
“It’s really unfortunate what happened to our Bass Pro Shops team. It’s disappointing. We came back from an early incident on the track, to run out of gas, then something went wrong with the motor. Just can’t seem to catch a break. We’ll regroup and hopefully get things back on track in Las Vegas next week.”

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will remain out west next week as teams will travel to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Kobalt Tools 400 will air on FOX and radio stations affiliated with PRN on Sunday, March 11 at 2:30 pm ET.
