  • The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series had two Daytona 500 practice sessions today in preparation for Sunday’s race.
  • Teams focused on single-car runs today.
  • The Target team brought out their back-up car yesterday after an accident on lap 9 severely damage the No. 42 Chevrolet. The team spent today preparing the new chassis, 1201, for Sunday’s Daytona 500.
  • The No. 1 Bass Pro Shops team did not run any laps today.
  • Tomorrow is the final practice session for the Daytona 500. The session is from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm.
  • McMurray will line-up 19th and Montoya 39th for the Daytona 500.
Quote from Juan Pablo Montoya-
“After what happened yesterday in the Duel’s, we spent today shaking down our No. 42 Target Chevrolet. The guys did a great job turning this car around and it’s just as good as our original car. We probably won’t practice much tomorrow (if at all) because we want to keep this one in one piece for Sunday’s race.”

Quote from Jamie McMurray-
“We were happy with the way our Bass Pro Shops Chevy handled after the Duel race yesterday so we opted to sit these practice sessions out. It’s just not worth taking a risk out there right now and having to go to a back-up car. We’ll probably run a few laps in tomorrow’s final practice session just to make sure everything is good to go for Sunday.”

The 54th annual Daytona 500, the season-starting Super Bowl of auto racing is on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 12:00pm ET. Live coverage will be on FOX and radio stations affiliated with MRN radio.
