EGR teams completed the second day of a three day test at Daytona International Speedway for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Following the first day of testing, NASCAR required teams to make some changes to the cars for day two, including, adjusting the amount of grille opening, and a larger restrictor plate.  The changes are an effort to eliminate or reduce the two-car tandem draft that has been the style of racing at Daytona for the last couple of years.  NASCAR also asked the teams at the test to attempt a larger pack testing in the afternoon session today.

No. 1 & No. 42 teams focused on running in tandem for the morning session, however participated in the larger pack practice to begin the afternoon session, then turned their focus to single-car runs to work on several different set-up combinations

Quotes:

Kevin “Bono” Manion – Crew Chief, No. 1Bass Pro Shops/McDonald’s Chevrolet – “We had another good day for our team.  It is important in this first test of the season to have a chance for all of our guys to work together in addition to finding a fast set-up on the car.”

Chris Heroy – Crew Chief, No. 42 Target Chevrolet – “I think we had a good day with our team working together.  NASCAR is going to continue to make adjustments to the rules package here during the test, so we will continue working hard to make the best of the changes that are made.  Once the test is complete NASCAR will have a better idea of what combinations we will come back here with in February.”
