Herbal Essences Loves Celebrates Creativity, Passion and Beauty, Exclusively at Target

Limited Edition Student Designer Collection Launches July 2010
In the Target tradition of offering exceptional design for all, the retailer has partnered with Herbal Essences to launch Herbal Essences Loves, a collection of new, exclusive products with packaging created by up-and-coming designer and Rhode Island School of Design student Brooklyn Boston.  The Herbal Essences team challenged design students to create a collection for Herbal Essences based on three benefit areas: moisture, shine and strength.
Herbal Essences celebrates creativity, passion, and uniqueness by giving women the tools to express themselves.  The Herbal Essences Loves program was designed to celebrate these qualities by putting the spotlight on up-and-coming designers.  Three design students were chosen based on their passion for design and their enthusiasm and fresh ideas for Herbal Essences.  Herbal Essences and Target chose Brooklyn Boston as the winner because her designs captured the creativity of Herbal Essences and the Target commitment to innovative design.  Boston created her winning design by experimenting with the positive and negative space created by the model pictured on the bottle. Currently a student at the Rhode Island School of Design, the graphic design major and self-proclaimed “Herbal girl” drew on a variety of influences to bring this concept to life. 
"I was inspired by illustrator Stina Persson. I love the loose quality of her watercolor face illustrations. The colors are monochromatic but have an intensity and gestural quality that I am really drawn to.  I was also inspired by the artist Francois-Marie Banier and his ad campaign for Diane von Furstenberg, where he incorporated layers of ink and paint in beautiful, saturated colors.  The campaign not only represented the brand but was also an incredible piece of art," says Boston. 

Just in time for back to school shopping, the Herbal Essences Loves products will launch exclusively at Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com beginning in July 2010:
