Target is looking for a design leader to shape the future of our in-store brand expression. As Senior Manager, RBX Design Innovation, you’ll play a pivotal role in turning bold, strategic concepts into immersive, scalable retail experiences within our A&A, Home, and Hardlines categories—driven by design excellence, production insight, and forward-thinking innovation . This is a high-impact leadership role, ideal for someone who brings equal parts creative vision and executional rigor. You’ll lead cross-functional collaboration, champion new materials and technologies, and ensure Target’s physical spaces inspire connection and elevate brand relevance. This is more than a design leadership role—it’s an opportunity to shape how millions of guests experience our brand every day. You’ll play a key part in driving in-store innovation at scale, delivering real-world impact, and setting a new standard for physical retail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead innovation design strategy across physical brand experiences—from concept through prototyping and scalable implementation for an assigned area of business.
  • Partner across disciplines (creative, store design, production, and merchandising) to ensure alignment on guest experience, operational needs, and business objectives.
  • Oversee prototyping and vendor collaboration—selecting strategic partners, managing review cycles, negotiating terms, and fostering strong relationships to drive cost-effective and high-quality production solutions.
  • Advance R&D efforts by identifying emerging trends, sustainable materials, and new vendor capabilities to inform future-ready design.
  • Drive executional excellence by ensuring all outputs—from production specs to store training content—enable consistent, high-quality implementation.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in environmental, experiential, or retail design
  • 3+ years of leadership in team or project management inclusive of leading across multiple teams and partners
  • Proven track record leading end-to-end design development for large-scale or complex physical environments.
  • Expertise in materials, print production, fabrication methods, manufacturing methods, and vendor management.
  • Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to translate abstract concepts into actionable design and production plans.
  • Skilled communicator and collaborator who can influence across creative, operational, and executive teams.
