Target, in partnership with Fast Company, announced a contest called the “Co. Labs & Target Retail Accelerator.” The contest offers a $75,000 prize to the person who develops the best new mobile experience for Target.
The contest is being launched in conjunction with Target’s sponsorship of the Fast Company Grill, an exclusive, five-day experience to include a restaurant, lounge and arcade (or “Tarcade”) in Austin, Texas, March 8 through 12.
As part of the contest, Target is looking for transformative, technology-driven ideas. The mobile experience should incorporate at least one of these Target priorities:
Social: Help users interact with Target and each other to make shopping easier and more fun.
In-Store: Use mobile technology to improve and extend the guests’ in-store experience or help them prepare for their next visit.
Personalization: Tailor the experience to the unique tastes and needs of each individual to make offers and promotions more relevant.
Education: As part of Target’s long-standing education commitment, create a mobile experience that can help students, teachers and schools be more successful.
Seven finalists will be selected in May and will receive $10,000 each to develop, build, and then present their prototypes. The winner of the $75,000 grand prize will be announced in July, and then Target will work to bring the winning idea to life. (Target team members are not eligible to participate.)
