Target has had a dedicated Hispanic/Latino strategy for more than five years and we have continued to make meaningful investments every year.  We offer products designed for our Hispanic/Latino guests, have a dedicated Hispanic/Latino marketing campaign and invest year-round in organizations that support the Hispanic/Latino community.

Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month 

Más Que (More Than): It’s a statement that reflects the diverse identities, experiences and cultures of the Latino community — and it’s the inspiration for all the ways Target celebrates Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month. From curating a product assortment developed by Hispanic/Latino founders to lifting up the stories of Hispanic/Latino guests, entrepreneurs and Target team members, we spend Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month each year celebrating and elevating their influence and contributions.  

Target also has supported the Hispanic Scholarship Fund for more than 20 years, in addition to serving as lead sponsor for the Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards, which advances Hispanic participation in corporate America. 

 

Más Que Hub

We also created the Más Que Hub, an online destination for Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month and beyond. It features an assortment of curated products created for and by the Hispanic/Latino community, stickers and templates for Instagram sharing and videos spotlighting Latino and Latina artists and entrepreneurs. As part of this work, we also have Hispanic/Latino-owned icons on Target.com to help guests easily identify and support Latino-owned brands. 

Hispanic/Latino Business Council

One of seven Diversity and Inclusion Business Councils at Target, the Hispanic/Latino Business Council’s (HLBC) mission is to create a sense of belonging and inclusivity by sharing Hispanic/Latino culture and experiences that authentically engage and connect all team members. HLBC members regularly work together to provide onboarding, networking and professional development opportunities for team members across the company, and share their experience and expertise to support our business.

Our philanthropic spending within the Latino community has been broad and deep for many years. We support a broad range of organizations, focused on everything from scholarship support for Hispanic students to policy work, including: 

Workforce Diversity

All of our work starts with our team, and the representation of our Latino team members has been growing each year. When Target released our Workforce Diversity Report in the fall of 2020, we shared that a quarter of our total team, a fifth of our managers and 11 percent of our officers are Latino, and Latino leaders also make up nearly a third of our Board of Directors. Our hiring of Latino team members increased in 2020 across our stores, distribution centers and HQ building and we’ve increased the promotion rate of Latino team members to mid-level managers meaningfully across our stores and HQ. 

Supplier Diversity

Target’s proud to work with an ever-growing roster of diverse suppliers, and each partner, in their own way, helps us champion inclusion within our assortment and far beyond. Target partners with the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to further our initiatives and help us develop relationships with Hispanic suppliers. And we’re always looking for what’s new and next on the horizon, hosting programs like Target Takeoff and events like our LatinXpo to explore potential partnerships with diverse entrepreneurs and businesses. 

good to know

We’ve given more than $1 million in accelerated Target Foundation grants to nearly a dozen nonprofits in Minneapolis-St. Paul to assist BIPOC-owned small businesses as they recover and rebuild. This includes support for technical assistance, training and construction and remodel services through the Latino Economic Development Center, which supports Latinx and other People-of-Color-owned businesses across Minnesota.
