our community impact

Every time we build a new store, we bring our legacy of giving and service to the community around it through the local programs and partnerships we support.

education grants

Throughout the year, our stores provide education grants to local K-12 schools to support educational field trips, early childhood reading programs and participation in the arts.

Our team members give hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours in their local communities each year, making their neighborhoods safer, healthier places for everyone. We provide a variety of opportunities to help them get involved, from renovating elementary school libraries and donating food to the hungry, to responding to disasters and reading with students.

Take Charge of Education

a classroom gets a TCOE check

With the help of our REDcard™ holders, Target has donated $418 million to local K-12 schools since 1997 through Take Charge of Education (TCOE). The program lets guests designate 1 percent of their REDcard purchases to a K-12 school of their choice to fund whatever the school needs most. In 2014, more than 84,000 schools received a TCOE check, totaling more than $31 million in TCOE donations for the year, keeping us on track to reach our goal to increase TCOE giving to schools nationwide.
