Here at Target, we’re gearing up for what could be our busiest holiday shopping season yet, and that means building the team that will help our guests create all those festive moments with their families.
To get things started, we’re planning to hire approximately 120,000 seasonal team members to serve guests at our 1,839 stores across the U.S., a 20 percent increase over last year’s commitment, in addition to offering extra hours to our current team members. On top of that, we’ll hire 7,500 seasonal team members at our distribution and fulfillment centers to replenish product to stores and fulfill online orders. The positions are available beginning today—visit TargetSeasonalJobs.com to see them and apply.
Have you heard? As of Sept. 16, we will proudly offer a minimum hourly wage beginning at $12 an hour for all team members, including seasonal hires. We’ve also redesigned our onboarding process to help our team members get up to speed and serving our guests faster than ever. And new this year, our stores and distribution team members will have a chance to win a $500 Target GiftCard and give a $500 donation to their community through our work.win.give. appreciation program. (More on that below!)

Find the role you’ll love
Across the country, we’re hiring for a variety of different positions across our stores, distribution centers (DCs) and fulfillment facilities. Store team members will help stock the hottest holiday toys and decorations, and help our guests to find the perfect products for every occasion. With the growing demand for our popular Drive Up and Order Pickup services and expanded ship-from-store capabilities, we’ll nearly double the number of stores hires to help fulfill these orders. And team members at our DCs and fulfillment centers will process freight to stores and fulfill Target.com orders, including receiving, packing and loading, to make sure products reach our guests quickly.
Enjoy the benefits
We proudly invest in our team members all year long, providing them opportunities to grow professionally and take care of themselves and their families. Our compelling benefits, in addition to our $12 starting minimum wage, include:
- Opportunities to earn holiday pay on Thanksgiving and Christmas
- A 10 percent merchandise discount at Target and Target.com
- An additional 20 percent merchandise discount for fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, all Simply Balanced and C9 merchandise
- Flexible schedules that allow team members to work a variety of hours
work.win.give.
Target offers team members opportunities to make an impact on guests and their communities too. This year, through our work.win.give. appreciation program, we’ll award one hourly team member in each of our stores and distribution centers the chance to donate $500 to the local community organization of their choice—along with a $500 Target GiftCard for themselves.

Meet Max Baez, a seasonal team member who’s back for his third holiday season with Target
Each year at Target, tens of thousands of team members choose to return as seasonal hires, building and developing their skills while they earn some extra cash for the holidays. Like Max Baez, who took on his first seasonal job while in high school. Now a sophomore in college, he returns to his Target store in Chicago during school breaks and for the holidays. We sat down with Max to hear more about what keeps him coming back.
Tell us how you got started as a seasonal team member.
I applied for my first seasonal role at Target in 2016 when I was 17. That first holiday was special because it was also the first job I ever had. One reason I chose to apply at Target is because my mom, Dorianett Martinez, and my dad, Emilio Baez, are team members—they’ve worked here more than 10 years and since they love it so much, I knew I would too.
Which roles have you worked so far?
My first job was cashier, and later trained for the Ship from Store role—that’s where team members at a store fulfill guests’ Target.com orders by packing them up and shipping them directly to the guest from our backroom. I’ve also learned to process Order Pickup requests, where we pull together online orders and bring them to the Order Pickup counter at the front of our store for guests to pick up. Recently, I’ve been working early mornings in the backroom unloading trailers and getting product ready to stock on shelves. One thing I’ve always appreciated is that Target takes the time to understand my availability and gives me flexible scheduling options.
Anything you want to learn next?
I like that I can look around the store, learn about what others are doing and train to learn new skills so I can work in more areas, which adds a lot of variety to my day.
What’s your favorite part of being a team member?
My coworkers! I always look forward to coming back after being at school for a while and seeing everyone on the team. I’ve made a lot of friends here along the way.
What advice would you give someone thinking of applying as a seasonal team member?
I’d tell them to go for it, and to know that it could be the start of something bigger. For me, it’s been an opportunity to become part of a team, learn lots of new skills and grow as a person. That’s what keeps me coming back.
