When it comes to dreaming up creative crafts, Karina Garcia isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty … er, make that slimy. She helped usher in the slime craze back in 2016 when her zany do-it-yourself YouTube tutorials went viral—and today, more than 7 million subscribers tune in regularly to follow along and make their own.
Karina loves inspiring her viewers to get creative, so the 23-year-old entrepreneur launched her own brand of Craft City project kits, now available exclusively at Target.
Guests can choose from a variety of kits, including the Craft City Original Make-Your-Own Slime Kit, which can be used to create Crunchy Slime, Cloud Slime and more.

There are also two new Slime Kits for pro-slimers: the Slimyssentials Bundles, available in red and yellow or blue and pink. Each kit comes with two new clear-based glues and fun mix-ins. Her Craft City Glue, developed especially for these projects, is now sold separately as well. Or, pick up one of the new pre-made Slime 4-Packs: Slimy Soda, Super Slime, Galactic Slime and Glitter Slime.
And if slime’s not their thing, guests can also pick up project kits for some of Karina’s other popular craft creations, like the Make-Your-Own Lip Kit, Face Scrub Kit and Bath Bombs Kit.
We talked to Karina to hear more about her creations … and her take on why slime is having such a moment.
What is it about slime and gooey arts and crafts that your fans love so much?
In general I think that kids, and even adults, are obsessed with slime because it's just so satisfying! It really relieves stress, especially since it's been evolving with all of these new crazy scents and textures. Slimes have become a new collectable for millennials because of all of the new varieties that have been created. I've always wanted to create all-inclusive kits that give my fans everything they need to make their own crafts at home, so I'm so excited to share this amazing adventure with Target guests.
How can kids and families use their Craft City kits to have fun together?
My family and I have a blast playing with all of the Craft City products. They’re definitely fun for the whole family because our kits are all about creating on your own terms … there's no one right way to play or create, and they bring out the kid in everyone. I've seen eight-year-olds and eighty-year-olds playing with slime and having a great time.
Any tips for beginners?
I recommend starting with the Make Your Own Slime Kit, because you can do so much with it. You can make two types of slime (opaque and translucent) in every color imaginable—glow slime, glitter slime, strawberry ice cream scented slime (yummy!), my crazy bubble wrap popping slime, or my mushy water gel slime, which feels like a smoothie. You can even blow bubbles with it! After that, dive into the other kits and get creative making all sorts of things.
How will having Craft City products at Target help more families discover your brand and the fun of your creations?
I think Target is the perfect retail partner for Craft City! Nowadays, kids are drawn to technology and spend less time engaging in hands-on activities. I want to encourage kids to get out, create, and get messy like I did when I was a kid. My goal is to bring crafting back to the mainstream, and Target is the perfect place to inspire kids to craft and create with me.
