When you live in a big city and rely on public transportation to get around, the prospect of lugging a case of sparkling water, new spring shoes and a new bedding set home on a packed train ... isn’t awesome. Any car-less city-dweller will tell you that.
That’s why, by the end of the month, nearly 60 Target stores in five major cities—Boston, Chicago, New York City, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.—will offer guests in-store, at checkout, the ease of having their store purchases delivered right to their doorstep.
When checking out in store, guests can opt to have their orders delivered the same day—during a two-hour window that’s most convenient for them. And in case you’re seeing dollar signs galore: it only costs $7 flat!* No schlepping, no metro jostling. All that for the price of a short taxi ride.
Don’t take our word for it, though—just ask guests who’ve been piloting the service at four New York City stores since last year: They’ve told us how much they love the service’s ease and convenience. Not surprisingly, the Home category, which includes large furniture items, proved the most popular merchandise to have delivered.
Here’s how to find out whether your Target store offers the service:
- You’ll see signage at available stores or team members will alert you to the service
- After going through the normal checkout process, tell the cashier you’d like home delivery
- Choose the delivery window, provide your address and other relevant delivery info, and leave items at the store
- Driver picks up your order and delivers it during the chosen delivery window
More than ever, we’re using our network of more than 1,800 stores and our enhanced supply chain operations and digital technologies to roll out more convenient shopping options for guests nationwide. We’re offering free two-day shipping on hundreds of thousands of items on Target.com and expanding our Drive Up service, where team members load orders directly into your trunk while you stay comfortably in the driver’s seat. And Target also will be making same-day online deliveries through Shipt nationwide by year’s end.
Scaling this handy service for city-dwellers in five major markets is just one of many ways we’re making Target America’s easiest place to shop.
*Oversized purchases such as furniture might include an additional $25 handling fee.
