Ever since Hearth & Hand with Magnolia debuted at Target this fall, Magnolia co-founders Chip and Joanna Gaines have been working on a special project for the families at Target House—our long-term housing facility where families stay for free while their kids receive lifesaving treatments at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
The duo remodeled the Target House dining room with new furniture, décor and more, all in their signature modern farmhouse style. It’s one of several cozy common areas (many designed by our celebrity friends and partners) where the families can connect, relax, eat and play together.
Chip and Jo recently surprised the families with a special celebration to unveil the updated space, and met a few of their biggest fans. Check out the video below. And for more on why this program was special to their family, take a peek at Joanna’s recent interview with People magazine.

“Target has been an incredible partner of St. Jude for the past two decades. Their generosity through Target House—a free home-away-from-home for St. Jude patients and their families—lets families maintain a sense of normalcy during treatment and allows patients to just be kids,” said Richard Shadyac Jr., president and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “Having Chip and Joanna Gaines visit and remodel the Target House dining room turned the space into a gathering area for our families. It’s a place where they want to come together and spend time with one another, and it was finished just in time for the holiday season."

and after the remodel.
And that’s not all. Before their visit, Chip introduced #OperationHaircut, a four-day social media initiative that raised more than $230,000 for St. Jude. As promised, he buzzed his hair at the event, to the delight of the kids.
This project is one of many ways Target and its partners support St. Jude. For more than 20 years, we’ve provided financial support and countless volunteer hours toward its mission to find cures and save children, ensuring that no family ever gets a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.
